In the grand traidition of asking about random s*** on QGL ...
Some of you have houses, which no doubt have insurance. We just bought a house (settling on the 2nd woo), and need to insure it (and contents). Who do you go through and why? Dragon. Ninja. Trolley bar lulz. |

If you have a homeloan see about getting it through the same mob. You usually get 10% off or something

Suncorp - (house and contents and car as well)
Never had problem with claiming stuff, very quick to response to claims. I had the unfortunate occasions of claiming from 1) House been broken into 2) Stuff taken whilst we're having a party from unknown assailants On both occasions claims get processed within 5-10 working days (providing that I got all the docos they wanted). They're not the cheapest but when it comes to this kind of things, cheapest is not always the best option. |

Yeh exactly, I've had a few quotes done but the price is pretty similar, its hard to know who is gonna look after you best for this sort of thing. Insurance is a pain, heard so many stories of people being screwed :( |

Can't recall why we initially used Suncorp, but we've continued to use them cos they've been great with claims, particularly with my 4wd's. We've had a couple of claims for theft on the house insurance, they paid quick and we had no hassles.

Suncorp - (house and contents and car as well) So suncorp paid out even though you had invited the person into your property? I'm with RACQ and they told me that if i'd invited them in or whatever that its not able to be claimed. They actually have to break in. /me runs to suncorp :P |

I've got the GIO platinum policy. Since they're owned by Suncorp; I'm sure that there's a similar policy that you queenslanders can access. Great thing about platinum is that EVERYTHING is covered when i travel with it; for up to 180 continious days interstate or 100 continious days overseas (and yes, you can bring it home for 1 day then go back and its still covered).
Also worked out cheaper than vanilla, because the values you have to specify stuff at is a lot lower (collections only above 50k (as opposed to 2.5k), jewelery only above 10k and the like). And congrats on the house! |

CGU I think - normally just use an insurance broker and they deal with it.

Suncorp.
Mainly because our loan is with then. Never had to claim though. We got our policy the other day, it's up for renewal - $730 :( last edited by mission at 19:12:42 15/Jun/07 |

I used to work in this field, even at Suncorp for a short period.
The cheapest, yet still reliable insurance is Budget Direct. The best product and best insurance is Suncorp, but you will pay extra for the quality of product. A happy medium is AAMI. |

Nah doode it wasn't anyone I invited to the party, there were only 15 people there and I know all of them for many years. It was a loooong story and there was other thing that happen after my gf bag was stolen that led us to belive (and the cop we reported it to) that it was definitely a snatch and grab job when everyone wasn't watching etc. |

not unlimited orbs
they had a point system originally, which was pretty flexible (each mod was worth certain number of points), not sure how they do it now i have told them about (and have on our policy) everything except for the powerfc |

hmm well i want to get away from Just Cars cause of their sucky excesses and conditions. Tried rhyno but they wanted twice as much $$. Shannons wanted THREE times as much:( Guess I'll give Suncorp a go. As you know my car has lots of mods so it makes getting insurance a pain.
