I'm a little confused about when these actually come into effect.
is it 1st june or 1st july? I was under the impression it was 1st june but some people say its not. So i look to the wise old QGL for the truth, and lots of s*** from the trolls. |

As I understand, if you have your learner's licence before the june/july date (whenever it is) you don't have to do the driving log thing provided you get your actual driving licence before that learner's licence expires.

Hah, suck it in!
I'm glad I'm on my opens, I thought the current system was fine. I think more people need to learn in s*** cars, makes you a better driver. Hills starts + no handbrake + no first gear = the win! |

I had to do the logging thing in NSW 5-6 years ago when I was on my learners, theyve always had it and Im glad they are implementing it up here.
You have to complete certain hours of night driving, rain driving, driving in different traffic conditions like freeway, residential and built-up. Everything is recorded and signed off so you have enough hours up when applying for your P's. I think it makes better drivers. However Im still trying to get the b/f to go and get his lisence before the new rules so things are a little easier. last edited by captivate at 12:27:06 29/May/07 |

As I understand, if you have your learner's licence before the june/july date (whenever it is) you don't have to do the driving log thing provided you get your actual driving licence before that learner's licence expires. As i understand (this is from mum who got it from dad who just happens to also be a driving instructor...) that after june/july (whenever it happens) for learners its like 100 hours or something.. if you're on your learners now.. or just got it in the last few months.. the rules still apply to you.. but it's only 80hours logged driving. also you have to wait for the transport department to say whether or not you are able to take your test. which could take up to 4 weeks.. and they can just turn around and say no. so no booking your test! also they decided based on where you've driven/how far (in your logbook). if they don't think you've experienced a wide variety of scenarios/roads etc then again.. no. also with the p plates.. you're on a red p? for 12months (minimun) and have to sit another test (hazard perceptipon), which if you dont pass you dont get to go to your green p... which you have to have for 12 months (i think ) sucks to be only just getting your learners..... |

young people need rules and discipline and the new requirements are a good idea. however if they had been introduced roughly 8 years ago they would have been a very bad idea :D
100 hours is too much |

That's not what my sister's driving instructor said. But anyways, I guess we disagree. |
