Hey guyz

I am after something that will play mp3s (also preferably ogg files) and will play them from a dvd for my car. Looking to pay $200 or less. Can anyone recommend anything?

$149
plays dvd and mp3
dont think it would play ogg, but you never know

cheap and nasty i would presume

only other way i can think off to get under $200 would be to go to cashies/random hock shop
they'd have a return policy

or save?

Yeh but I want to upgrade my speakers a bit too (nothing special as I will only be listening to beatles/oasis etc) so doesn't that mean I'll need to upgrade my head unit? If so that means I'd need to buy ipod + headunit + speakers whereas if I got an mp3 compatible dvd playing headunit it would just be headunit + speakers.

Just buy a 20$ FM Transmitter that plugs into Ipod. Tune Head unit to said frequency and alls sweet.

DVD playing headunits are expensive, even if they don't show picture (expect to pay ~ $500)

I have an mp3 player in my car... I burnt a CD for it today and I really, really struggled with finding enough music to put onto one CD. I don't really know why you'd need a DVD cause a few CDs only take up a fraction more space than a DVD. I bought myself one of those CD holders that fits to the back of your sun visor = win.

Description: JVC redefines premium with the KD-AVX1 single DIN DVD/CD/MP3 receiver with built-in 3? full-color TFT monitor. The display, built in to the motorized faceplate, lets users watch television or DVD movies, display JPEG pictures, or monitor a rear view camera. A sleek, intuitive interface replaces the usual array of buttons with two discrete cross-key pads that control the functionality of the entire unit. The KD-AVX1 boasts an easy-to-use GUI (graphical user interface) menu that is displayed on the monitor. The advanced menu interface allows for fast navigation through tracks and folders when using JVC?s GIGA MP3 technology to play MP3 and WMA files on a DVD-R or DVD-RW. Power output is a healthy 50W x 4 (max), courtesy of the MOSFET power amp. There?s also a gold-plated subwoofer output, gold-plated line outputs, and video output for playback of DVD on additional screens. Two A/V inputs with dual zone control allow two separate sources to be enjoyed simultaneously. Expand your mobile theatre with an optional CD/MP3 changer, SIRIUS satellite tuner, or TV tuner. Optical digital output, 96 kHz/24-bit DAC, and digital 7-band iEQ complete this audiophile?s dream machine. A full-function wireless remote is included

i think a car puta would be cheaper and more functional

Cheapest i could find with "giga mp3 technology"
