My initial thoughts, all over the place, not enough action and too much emo s***. It wasn't what I was hoping it to be, didn't entertain me anywhere near as much as Spidy 1 and 2.

Was it the same director that directed 1 and 2 also?

Terminator 3 and X-men 3 (to name a few) were disappointments aswell. At least there is consistency :)

terrible stuff, i hate the emo/harcore montage they did with him. he can't act, it was just awkward the whole way through. and kirsten dunst's character, an actress comming to terms with her suckiness? talk about irony..

too many sub plots, too much bad acting, bad hair-cuts, bad directing, bad plot

was alright but could have been so much better. felt like it was all over the place, and there was too much comedy. they didnt really need sandman imo, i would have been happy if it was mainly about petter and harry because they had an awsome fight at the start. needed more venom. 15 minutes wasnt long enough. oh and james franco stole the movie imo.

i gotta agree with rav, not enough venom and sandman wasnt really needed in the movie (he was cool though). i didnt mind all the emo stuff cuz i felt like it did kinda fit with the storyline, even if you think it was a strech. still, i mainly went to see it for venom and the poor guy only got what? 20 min of screentime. movie should of been just about new goblin and venom as the fight at the start was one of the best in the whole movie.

all said and done though i really liked it and thought it was great

Would you say the latest ep of Heroes was better?

I'm gonna wait for a DVD release of this. I thought Spiderman 2 was way too emo with him crying about his powers for the whole movie.

actually I can't lol

will have to get my lady friend to sort me out on those. (don't those things just suck though, f***ing sheesh!)

################SPOLIER:######################
They actually did need sandman as he was Peters uncles real killer, however maybe they should have just stuck with the "original" killer, then there wouldn't have been all the emo stuff with 10,000 flashback scenes of his uncle. Hence they would have concentrated more on the action side of things.. The fight between peter and harry at the start wasn't all that great aswell... Venom was way, way cool, had so much potential but not enough though..

So I reckon, leave sandman out of the movie and the let the other guy be the killer, Harry never finds out that his father actually noobed himself so peter has to take on Venom first with some leet fight scenes, then the big showdown between peter and harry, and harry dies by his own hands like his father did, and harry then realises that his father actually did noob himself and warms up to peter whilst he is dieing... I reckon that would be epic.

it needed more of spidey kicking absolute ass when he was wearing the symbiote.

it needed less of that f***ing horridly deformed snaggletoothed rednut dunst.

they seriously could have chopped an hour of soppy s*** out of the whole movie.

Having a 6yr old son I've become quite familiar with the original story line of Spiderman (after watching it 27 times). I haven't seen the movie but this is the basis of the story. In the Venom Saga cartoons you don't actually see much of Venom as its mainly spiderman wearing the symbiote and its not until the fight at the church with Rhino (who was hired by the KingPin) that he uses the bell to rid himself of it. It was at that point that the symbiote joined with Brock (not sure what they called this character in the movie). Sandman was nothing more than a small side villan in the comic/cartoon series.

I'm guessing the next movie will be about Brock's battle to overcome the Symbiote and hopefully the introduction of Carnage, now that would be a huge action movie.

6/10. Wait till DVD.

I'm guessing there won't be anymore Eddie Brock or Venom in the movies, considering how owned he gets at the end of this one.

I liked 3 better than two only because I looked past all the crappy parts and loved the fight scenes. Sandman was awesome, Venom was cool and without both of them you wouldn't be able to see Harry and Peter hold hands and fight two on two.

They said a while back they weren't going for the McFarlane style over the top Venom, more of an "anti-spiderman" type Venom. Personally, I thought Venom was done awesome, if he was all bulging and tentacles and tongue I reckon it would have come off looking pretty silly tbh. I wish he got a lot more screen time though :(

Also, the effects on Sandman were jaw droppingly awesome, very cool indeed.

He is emo and refused to go on letterman because letterman pwnd him with awkwardness thing that he can do with guests (few years ago). Only when he started making jokes about maguire that he agreed to come on, probably management decision.

Yeah I think to everyone who was saying the so called "emo" stuff was awkward - well it MEANT to be!

Also a few people said it was too long - personally I'd rather a good movie be too long than too short.

*SPOILER WARNING*

.
.
.

Positives:
- Stan Lee's cameo (got a bit of a cheer/laugh in the audience) - great stuff!
- Bruce Campbell's cameo (the French maitre D)
- most of the action scenes, specially the final one
- the Sandman (I can't believe the people who suggested he should've been left out - he was awesome and more relevant than Venom)
- Eddie Brock - preferred his human persona than Venom..
- wrapping up all the storylines pretty well overall (cept for one see below)
- The New Goblin - I liked the designs of Harry's gear, looked way cooler than the Green Goblin, but still kept the "green" theme going..
- the humour - most of it did work pretty well, deal with it!

Negatives:
- Not enough Spidey just being Spidey - needed a few more stock shots of him swinging through the streets etc..
- Kirsten Dunst, she really didn't come across nearly as well in this flick, and MJ was being a tad sulky and jealous (and didn't have an alien symbiote to blame it on)
- they didn't really resolve Peter/MJ's dramas properly - they just sort of get back together at the end without any explanations etc..
- Harry's amnesia - just a plot device to remove him from the action until the end, wasn't necessary

Overall, not as good as Spidey 2, but damn close. Much better than Spidey 1.

plus its mssing the final webslinging scene thats present in the first 2 movies.

how was sandman more relevant? they made up the whole story of him killing ben parker just to get him in the movie. ben was killed by a burglar in the comics, not sandman.

I like them all about the same. They all have thier pro's and con's. Only thing I didn't lke about this one is the fact they crammed way too much into one film.
Khel

I think they crammed a lot in because Sam Raimi's contract and the actors' contracts were only for three movies, so I guess he wanted to get everything done he wanted to do in case he doesn't get another chance.

Also, if there is a fourth one, my money is on the Lizard. Curt Connors seems to get a bigger role every movie, hes gotta come to the forefront sooner or later, they even drew attention to the fact he only has one arm in this one.

I don't care what happened in the comics, it's the movie I'm talking about - and in the movie, he killed Ben Parker so it's relevant in that respect, and also to the theme of the film itself - ie. choices that we make etc..etc..

Then he's kinda redeemed at the end (along with Harry, and in a way, Peter) so it just fits the movie better than Venom, IMO. Venom seemed like an afterthought - if anything they should've removed Venom, not Sandman. (I'm happy with both tho)

they could have done exactly the same thing with brock/venom instead of sandman. venom is the spiderman version of batmans joker. they are the most well known adversaries of spiderman and batman. the director would be an idiot (which i think raimi was for this movie) to have the joker dying after only 15mins of screen time. but i guess we are lucky we even got to see venom since raimi hates venom and was going to include vulture instead of venom.

Movie was messy - all over the place. Tried to fit too much in and it was just disjointed. And why did sandman just float away at the end? He still hadn't saved his kid. Spiderman should have told him that he'd make sure his daughter got the treatment she needed or something.

There also wasn't enough venom.

The emo bits were funny the whole cinema was cackin. The american flag bit made everyone cringe and groan.

Worth seeing at the cinema for sure - just go to cineplex it's as cheap as getting the DVD anyway.

watched spidey2 on the telly last sat nite.

It was the 2nd time I'd seen it and I noticed that it started pretty well but about half way through the plot started to get very stupid and sloppy even for a comic book movie. Not to mention the CGI was laid on with a trowel.

Finally watched it and thought it was damn boring. There was some nice action but it was ruined by most scenes with Kirsten Dunst with her ugly face and sour-ass look thru-out the whole film plus also Aunt May giving Peter her little bits of wisdom. Very cringe worthy. Also that scene with Stan Lee was also embarressing. What is it with superhero movies lately??? Everything is turning f***ing emo.

haha you guys are losers. Sam Raimi makes B-Grade flicks on purpose just like Tarintino. Spiderman 3 was an extremely big budget B-grade film. I agree with le Cock - I felt like they were trying to fit too much into one film. Still really enjoyed it. The emo stuff carried on quite well from the first two - don't know what people were expecting.

----------SPOILER------------

Yeah what was with that meteor, just came out of nowhere.. I guess it would be tooo complex to explain the meteor landing on earth right near spidey. The other thing is, with spideys "senses", I can't believe he didn't sense/hear/smell/feel the meteor landing literally in the same park he was in, like wtf it's Spidey ffs!

How sand man came about was a bit bs too... one second he's in the middle of town somewhere then next second he's in some "granule physics testing facility" s*** which had no security and no controlled environment in which to do the experiment in.

Movie sucks.

Well, against Venom I could understand it, cos while they didn't explain it in the movie, the spider sense doesn't work against Venom. Though he still got owned by heaps of other stuff, so it doesn't really matter.

Some spoilers that explain why I was kinda falling asleep at the end. Please note, some of these aren't verbatim... but the gist of it is there.

Spidey confronts Sandman!
----------------------
"I need some money bags with dollar signs on them to save my daughter from her sickness!" -Sandman
"What's wrong with her?" -Spidey
"Shes.... sick!" - Sandman

"Wow, nice photochop skills noob" -Peter
"I swear bloody vengence on you!" -Brock

Mary Jane has "breakfast" with Harry
----------------------
"Lets dance!" -MJ
"ok!" -Harry
"omg I totally kissed you! goodbye!" -MJ
"wtf? bitch..." -Harry
----------------------

Evil Harry Catches upto Mary Jane
----------------------
"You have to do something for me!" -harry
"Dump Peter? Ok!" -MJ
"umm... I was going to go with a quick bj..." -harry
"Ill do both! Yay! Im such a whore!" -MJ
----------------------

Peter gets influenced to his darker side by the alien symbiote
---------------------
"So if I push my fringe down, I'm giving into my dark desires?" -Peter
"Sure, you only go slightly more evil with a little moustache. You gotta be careful though, too much fringe play can result in public dancing..." -Shop Assistant

Peter Confronts MJ! with his blonde date
----------------------
"Did Peter just start a musical number or did I just walk into The Mask?" -Bar Patron #14
----------------------

Peter asks Harry for help to save MJ from Venom and Sandman
----------------------
"Help me!" -Peter
"No..." -Harry
"ok." -Peter
"Um master. I loved your father and you very much and often. But I have to reveal now... now that you have lost your friends, your good looks and frankly you dont do it for me anymore... that your father killed himself. Yer I know its been quite some time, but the point is, Im not attracted to you anymore." - Harry's Family Butler
-----------------------

The Tearful Scene where Spidey/Peter forgives the Sandman for killing his uncle.
-----------------------
"I forgive you...." -Spidey
*flys off* "weeeeeee......." -Sandman
"Oh s***! I forgot about all the criminal s*** he did and all the people in hospital... maybe they forgive him to..." -Spidey
-----------------------

Minutes tick by as Peter Stands and watches the Sandman fly away. After about an hour he remembers his best buddy pal is one floor down with 2 holes in him and runs down to find Mary Jane over him.
-----------------------
"We should get you to the hospital!" -Spidey
"No..." - Good Harry
"OK I guess we wont go to the hospital." - Spidey
"Should we really let the guy who has lost so much blood make these decisions?" -Mary Jane

'Spider-Man 3' Is "Silly," Says Lucas. George 'Jar Jar' Lucas has joined the major newspaper critics in their negative appraisal of Spider-Man 3. In an interview with FoxNews.com's Roger Friedman, Lucas said, "It's a silly movie. ... There just isn't much there. Once you take it all apart, there's not much story, is there?" Over the weekend, Spider-Man 3 surged ahead of Lucas's Star Wars' episode Revenge of the Sith to take the record for the biggest weekend box-office record. Star Wars was also criticized as being "silly," Lucas noted. "But it wasn't." He also disclosed that he is working on at least two other Star Wars movies for television. "But they won't have members of the Skywalker family as characters. They will be other people of that milieu."
Lucas says Spidey3 is 'silly'

Here's proof the man has finally lost it and succumbed to the dark side.
