My old mousepad is getting worn & dirty and falling apart (it's over 5 years old) and I can't find them ANYWHERE. All I can find are s***, cheap $2 mousepads or "optical mouse mat" that is some shiny looking thing with a sticky backing on it. My old one is an ALLSOP brand I got from big-w and even they only sell cheap, s*** ones now.
I found this at umart: mat, the description sounds pretty damn close to what my current mat is. My current one weighs a fair bit and has a non-slip backing on it that is very good at stopping it moving. Anyone know a place that still sells ALLSOP mats? I've tried big-w, harvey norman, officeworks & dick smiths to no avail. If all else fails, does anyone have one of those pads in the link? Are they any good? (yes I'm willing to spend $50 on a mousepad)

So, where on this planet in south brisbane can you buy a decent freaken mouse pad?

yeah if I could find one heardy. Like I said, every shop I tried only sold those f***ing s*** $2 mouse pads. I didn't try computer alliance because their website doesn't seem to list any kind of pads at all but if they sell them I'll go there tomorrow.

thanks for that review, just confirms what the review on umart said :)

Reason I looked at that particular pad is the description of it is VERY close to the pad I'm using now, except mine doesn't have a stiff plastic part to it, just a very heavy, thick VERY sticky rubber base and a cloth surface. I absolutely hate those hard surface mats too.

I tried but the mouse doesn't move smoothly over the surface & scratches the desk. I think the little feet have worn off and the plastic mouse bottom is what's now rubbing on the desk.

Mouse pads s*** me.

But I now have to use one because my puter table is glass and mousey no worky on glass :(

I have a generic Dell one from work and it's actually pretty good. Nice and thin and the mouse works heaps better on this than the last old s***ty one I had.

i think i know the pads you mean, soft rubbered cloth that actually grips on the table unlike those f***ing peice of s*** foam pads that just slip around.

last time i got mine was from that computer shop inside the shopping center at capalaba.

Best 'mouse mat' substitute ever, especially for optical mice: A manilla folder. If you want the mouse to glide over it a little better, rub some crayon across it. Mixed colour will help it track a bit better, and don't put it on too thick.

But overall a manilla folder has the right texture, it's a large mousepad, and they'd cheap.

I haven't been using a mouse pad for around 2 years.

I now have big worn out section of my desk. Also my desk kept getting dirty.

At the moment I am using my old skool everglide mouse pad thingo. I got it back in 99 and it still looks brand new.

EDIT: On another note does any one know where I can buy some everglide feet for my G5 mouse?

Haha what the f***.

Anyway, my current mouse mat is a Prey everglide-like (in that, it's hard plastic with non-stick feet on it) mat that I got free from the EB booth @ Supanova this year. Works great.

*Sigb* I remember picking up my Func Pad from Erik? at what i think was the last ever QGL? Wow my memory is going =\

Best investment as its still going strong, bumpy side is getting pretty worn mind you.

I use a decent mouse mat because I don't want to wear down/f*** up the feet on my expensive mouse. And the mouse also seems to pick up less crap on the feet than when I use it directly on my desk or something.

i use the plastic out of the bottom of those stupid green bags that coles and woolies and just about everywhere else hand out, they have the same texture as a manila folder and has a very large surface.

Fat rubber + cloth top <3

I got the ol 50cent pad rockin, the cloth has mostly peeled off but just sits there and still works fine for me. I have always found plain coloured cloth topped pads to track the best with my G7 and I just like the feel, smooth but not too slippery.

If you find a decent one whoop be sure to post it up cause I am in need to a replacement.
