I think they just don't understand what Anzac day is about. It is not about glorifying war, its paying respects to the men and women who fought and gave their lives for their country. If anything, Anzac day reminds us of why peace is something that we should strive for.

Bunch of young kids up to no good and not realising how dumb they were being. Either teach 'em about ANZAC Day or send them off to fight in Iraq.

^^ just give them one day in the life of a prisoner in a jap POW camp. i'm sure with the humidity, starvation, slave labour, degradation, malaria, physical abuse and some extra rape, just for good measure.

thats disgraceful. it pisses me off when anzac's cop any flak from anyone. at least the 16 and 15 year olds have stupidty in their defense, it would be worse if it was someone older, who "should" actually have a clue.

While I don't support vandalism, I reckon good on them for getting their message out. Days like Anzac Day and Rememberance Day makes me very uncomofortable. But I guess that's because I understand why days like this were created.
The fact is that soldiers are a pretty low class of people that even to this day we still send to their deaths, and we have this one bulls*** day where we pretend we're sorry for sending them there, and that we 'remember' as though to learn some lesson... but it hasn't changed... we still send those kids over to get killed, and we're just going to have to keep doing these marches for years and years as a consellation for all the people we've yet to send to war. Oh and it's also the day where people are all irrational and supersitious.. I mean look at half the posts in this thread... some of you think a f***en zombie is going to come back to life to kill these girls.... |

But I guess that's because I understand why days like this were created. No, not "good on them" at all. In fact shame on them. Whether or not you agree with the moral issues surrounding war and governments sending young men and women to die for "democracy", you cannot possibly excuse the actions of these girls. Young or not, they should be taught respect. Sure they may have strong opinions on the matter...but disrespecting the memories of those people who died believing that they were fighting for their country is just plain wrong. There are many ways to have your say, to get your voice heard. This isn't one of them. There is no use attacking the families and the memories of the dead. I doubt they are going to listen. Anyone can paint some slogans, but it takes determination and courage to affect real change. |

"We had about a dozen young fellas that were going home from the pub, they sort of stopped and said: 'What's going on here?'," he said. how good. |

Teenage girls have gone crazy! With the suicides, the murdering of a friend, and vandalizing a war memorial. All within like 3 days of each other.
Gee no wonder boys turn gay. |

I will defend every person's right to disagree, and these children are free to voice their disapproval of war, however vandalising a memorial is plain disrepectful. |

Idol you hate just for the sake of it don't you? Do you actually believe what you say or do you just have to be different at any cost. Nobody can be as dumb as you are surely? These people have given up everything to protect us and you think they are dumb. Read your history before opening up that sewer you call a mouth and tumble out more s***. You are the dumbest poster I have ever read if you truly believe that.

f*** off and die, Idol.
All you're doing here is proving your ignorance. Remeberance days aren't just to pay our respects and thanks to those who went to fight for us. It's also to comfort those who lost loved ones in these conflicts. And to say these kinds of days haven't achieved anything just confirms your ignorance even further. Look at how many people protested and resisted the war in Iraq. That sort of thing didn't happen 70 years ago buddy boy. Who are you to say that things like ANZAC day and Remeberance Day had nothing to do with that? |

If we didn't have soldiers willing to die for us we'd all be speaking Japanese and eating sushi by now. (Well sushi has gotten pretty popular here already.)

so a rebellious action deserves a violent one.
how about a stint in the army for them as previously mentioned, that might be a little more constructive. |

It should mean a lot to EVERY Australian... as mentioned already without the guys who went over to fight it is entirely possible we'd be speaking german/japanese now without the freedom to run around like tards. |

this act also shows alot for our education system and their parents because if they were properly educated as well as their parent they wouldn't even consider doing anythinglike this.

Crizane makes a convincing point about the families who lost soldiers.
But actually watching Anzac Day on TV, it is so not about that, the marches consist of soldiers who are currently serving, and... alive, and the tone is very promotional of current politics. Toll, I think I would be saying what I have regardless of who fought, or who won. If the japs invaded australia, as the horror story goes, we'd be having Jap Day marches and I'd be whinging about that too, and you'd be saying something like "if it wasn't for our Jap saviours you'd still be bowing to the British Queen". I think I came off a bit half cocked in my previous comment, and may have overstated my perspective :/ |

The reason, regardless of what it is, for any of the wars that Australian's have died in has no (or should not have) bearing on whether we honor their sacrifice. Even if every single war ever fought was some kind of illumnati battle for the spread of 'democracy' like so many of you e-warriors love to think, the people who fought and died believed it was for the good of our nation and that is all that it takes to validate their sacrifice. They gave their lives thinking it was to protect our nation.
Your personal beliefs mean s*** in the face of what they gave. If you have issue with politics you take them up with politicians. People that are anti ANZAC day because they are anti-war are as bad as the ignorant f***s that spat on Vietnam vets. Ignorant and naive. edit: baring =/ bearing last edited by qmass at 03:42:11 28/Apr/07 |
