You know, all international and national sporting events are required to be available on free to air and as such, the free to air stations have first bid on them.

After securing them for a low price due to lack of interest from the other free to air stations they then onsell them to fox sports, while showing matches that they believe will gain significant ratings.

Channel 9 does this with the Cricket World Cup.

Channel 7 does this with with the Rugby World Cup and Super12/14 competions.

When the sporting organisations pushed against this law ealier this year, arguing that if that they should be getting the money for from foxsports directly, the free to air stations blitzed the airwaves with advertising against it.

Man U game was a cracker - awesome finish.

The cricket was a bit of a letdown - NZ crumbled again. However, it was good for my fantasy team score...

With sri lanka's main bowlers back they dominated nz's batting aparently fleming stepped down from captain too, should be interesting to see malinga go against the aussie batsmen

That first hour's play was one of the best I have ever seen. Fantastic stuff.

Hopefully we will have this match just about wrapped up by the time the champions league kicks off. They are both on Sky so I can't do picture in picture :(

If it's tough for one team, it's tough for the other.

That said, I sincerely hope that the resurgance from the RSA tail end signals a drying out of the pitch - perfect for batting! :)

Meanwhile, I wanted NZ to win yesterday. Australia's lack of exposure to Malinga is bothering me.

ManU aren't in the CL final yet...

2 away goals scored against them and they travel to the San Siro.

Ditto Chelsea, although they would have to like their chances after that poor display by Pool.

Milan only need a 1-0 win to go through on away goals and I can see them doing that at home.

Has this ever happened before? Two teams playing eachother for the treble?

i support the aussies but spook dont get to ahead of yourself, Australia hasnt versed bowlers of the magnitude of Sri Lanka's yet, they didnt even verse Bond when they beat nz who has in the past troubled australian batsmen, but in anycase i doubt hayden will be able to bully vaas and malinga like he did pollock and the sa bowlers

It only takes one bad performance in the final and all the Aussies complete and utter dominance counts for nothing. That's why I'm not looking for a challenge at this point, in the group or super 8 stage (when one loss wouldn't matter) that would have been fine, but asking for a challenge in the final when it's all on the line is nothing short of arrogant (and asking for trouble).

Whether Australia wins or loses, expect another 12 months of people crying about how "arrogant" and "unsporting" the team is.
