Would they double up as bell hops? or however you spell it. You know, the f***ers that take your bags.

my brother did (does) this for a while in melbourne. just as a porter (taking teh bags, standing around looking pretty) and got paid about $25 an hour.

Doorman, concierge and bellhop are all different jobs. Bellhops take your bags to your rooms, doormen open the door, receptionists check you in, and concierges get you LIMITED ONE TIME RESTAURANT COUPONS, and SWEET PACKAGE BUS-TOUR DEALS!

What they get paid obviously depends on the quality of the hotel and it's location. When I was on working hols looking for work the doorman wage at most places was the same as front desk and porter.
