I got this email from someone I work with, this email is from a good friend of his so its no BS.

Hello all,

On Friday afternoon the 3rd of March 2007, at 3.05pm a white Toyota Yaris approached 3 young girls walking home from North Lakes State College, trying to lure them into his car. He drove up to the girls as they were about to cross the road - he pulled up very close to them, took off his seatbelt and leant right over to open the door and leant out in the hope he could grab one of them and pull them into his car. He offered them a lift home saying it was very hot outside and he could drive them to their home, he was patting the drivers seat and reaching out in the hope of getting close enough to get one of them in his car.

* He was in his mid forties, medium build, dark brown short hair (with grey flecks) with a moustache and a freckle above his moustache on the right side.
* He was wearing a white polo shirt with dark work trousers.
* He had a slight English accent.

** Please see attachment: The Toyota Yaris (or similar car) had a logo on the front passenger door that the girls have identified to police. The police ran a check on the logo and it is not registered for trade mark purposed but we are hoping desperately someone can identify the logo.

If anyone can offer any information it would be greatly appreciated to speed up the process of catching this sick predator and get him off the streets away from our innocent children.

I never forward a lot of emails or condone mass emails, but this time I please ask that everyone send this to everyone in their address book in the hope that someone recognises the car and its logo.

I thank you for your time and help to catch this man who could of taken one of my daughters and I dont want to think what he would of done if it was his lucky day.

I live in North Lakes and this letter was dropped in my mailbox a few weeks ago. I cared for about 5 seconds before spotting the flaws in this letter, the primary one being that they could remember what he looked like, car colour, car shape and the logo on the side but couldn't check for a rego number?

FFS, he was driving a white Toyota Yaris with Queensland plates. It can't seriously be THAT hard to track down. How many Yaris' do they think Toyota have sold in the first place!?

This is Papa Bear. Put out an APB for a male suspect, driving a... car of some sort, heading in the direction of, uh, you know, that place that sells chili. Suspect is hatless. Repeat, hatless.

It clearly says "YARIS" on the number plate. Don't worry about the logo, just track down the rego and you're in business.

This is obviously fake. It doesn't even list where it actually happened, just which school the girls went to.

Idiot, North Lakes is (now) a suburb on the northside west of Redcliffe. If the students went to North Lakes State College they live in the North Lakes estate, so that's where it happened!

It apprently is true. I was told from a person that teaches at the school that the car was stolen from the car park at the school. Before it was stolen it was driven by a charity worker so tracking down the logo is pointless.

Triamks - It doesn't list which street it happened on. If they can remember the logo on the car, they can remember which streets they need to walk to get home from school.

Maybe the person writing the email hasn't personally interviewed the girls? So they wouldn't be privy to that information. Why are we arguing about this when it has been confirmed that it's true several times.

Well it says:
I thank you for your time and help to catch this man who could of taken one of my daughters and I dont want to think what he would of done if it was his lucky day.

The way it is worded makes it sound like one of the girls was his/her daughter. You think they haven't talked to their own daughter about exactly where it happened?

It's called Sagan's Balance, idiot. Extraordinary claims require equally extraordinary evidence. A few d*******s in a forum saying "yeah I live there it's true" or "my friend said it's true" etc is hardly extraordinary.

I have actually met the mother of these kids once. The email went directly from her to two VERY credible people at work one of which passed it on. Both of whom know both the mother and the three kids. Plus she leaflet dropped it around the area.

As far as I'm concerned it's genuine.

I'm sorry, but my opinion of the average forum goer just went down the toilet after seeing everybody's behaviour here. Somebody has asked for help identifying a car from a pamphlet and email. Now normally, if it was just an email, i'd be skeptical, but if it's pamphlet dropped, and people personally know the family, i'd be inclined to believe it.

But people on this forum are too busy trying to inflate their own self worth by trying to be the one to debunk it with semi-witty responses that would only impress a 9 year old with a learning disorder.

It comes down to the same basic principal, which most people here don't adhere to. If you don't have anything useful to say, then don't say it at all. Hopefully somebody can offer some usefull information and that the rest of you can pull your head out and grow up.

you dont think perhaps if this was true erik, there would be something in the paper?

perhaps something from the police who no doubt if this were true would want to catch the person, especially with such a noticeable logo?

This is what I'm saying - I thought it was true when I got the letter in the mailbox, however I still don't understand how they can remember the guys description, car colour, car make and a logo but didn't think to check the rego?

Then as someone else posted the car was stolen or something so whats the point of the email/letter anymore?

If it was stolen and it's not common knowledge, you now have yourself a bunch of self-righteous vigilantes who'll go running around, find the poor sucker who owns the car and belt s*** through them thinking they are trying to grab young children.

Also there were two recorded incidents (paper and TV coverage) of attempted abductions the week before this. They both occured in North Lakes with one being near the school on Anzac Ave and the second being at the bus stop before Bridgeport Drive.

I figure if these two incidents had media coverage but the vagina lipped logo Yaris doesn't - then I call shinanigins.

guys, it's a lot easier to recall a car make and model with logo's than it is to remember a number plate.

i can get just a glance of a car and remember those details, but a number plate is something that i would have to specifically look for.
Then as someone else posted the car was stolen or something so whats the point of the email/letter anymore?
obviously the car wasn't stolen, because if it was, there wouldn't be any trouble identifying the dodgey logo, because the person who'd reported it stolen would have told them.

If I was with 2 friends and someone tried to grab one of us from a car, I'm pretty sure between 3 people you would remember the plate.

obviously the car wasn't stolen, because if it was, there wouldn't be any trouble identifying the dodgey logo,

Obviously this letter was written by some lady in the community and not by the police .. so how would she know if it was stolen at the time of writing the letter and mass posting it to everyone?

No you're right, it's not like the email could have been sent in the heat of the moment before it was found out that the car was stolen, and something like this could never then go and take on a life of it's own out on the internet despite a valid explanation. Bring on the vigilantes! I'll get a tyre iron and a sack of doorknobs, you guys sorts yourselves out and we'll start at North Lakes moving out in large groups.

Maybe teh girls were blonde? Hence the lack of noting the licence plate...

This whole thing stinks of stupidity though. And as I said before, extraordinary claims are going to need extraordinary evidence. A few noobs prattling on in a forum is hardly substancial evidence. Hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions, of people claim to have seen UFO's, yet we don't accept their existence as fact.
