seriously, i've had my email address for yonks and had no spam and i now i'm getting these stock stip ones and i have no idea how i can stop them.

it's not that simple with these ones, as they generally have standard text in the body, not advertising type key-words, and all the advertising is done in the image, which has too much noise in it for any image-spam-filtering software to decipher.

It's a nightmare! you would imagine it could be done at the ISP level where they could block anything that is mass-sending to more than 100 of their clients email addresses? but I guess it's a lot of work involved to do this, so it's not done that easily.

I get almost 15-20 per day alone in my work email address. It's almost tragic when I get an email and think "woot! a sale!" and then it's just some lame Stock-market radar crap thing.

I guess the unfortunate part is, you can't really use Gmail for your work emails etc. So there's a drawcard to that call, even though I have yet to actually use gmail as a home email :)

gmail does give me hand relief after a hard day in the office

mark all new email with jpg attachment as spam unless sender in to field of email in sent folder

Spambayes stops probably 90% of these from getting into my inbox. The other 9% are marked as 'unsure' and I pretty much never see them anyway (they get filtered into another folder that I glance over occasionally).

Wait... is the image usually done with stupid multi-coloured text?

If so, I'm in the same boat with my QUT webmail of all things :( I get about 5 a day.
