You didn't specify which Dell (probably the 22"), but the 20" Dell 2007WFP looks good. Awesome viewing angle specs and good height/tilt/pivot adjustibility. The other Dells you listed are either not widescreen or don't have as good a viewing angle.
The ASUS has mostly good specs but I believe the real killer might be the lack of height adjustibility combined with the fact that it sits really low on the desk (I now avoid most BenQ LCDs for the same reason). The Samsung's viewing angle isn't as great as the other two (not -too- bad though), but the rest of the specs look fine. So yeah, nice researching there :) last edited by parabol at 20:11:08 13/Mar/07 |

I just bought the 22" ASUS MW221U, sweet monitor with great colour range. Sits nicely in dual mode beside my BENQ FP202W
20" Height adjustability isn't really an issue if you think outside the box for a second, just whack some old game DVD cases under them or a couple of phonebooks in a pillow case |

I have a samsung 19" LCD and it kicks all sorts of arse. The stand is quite lacking though, no height adjustment and very little in the way of angle adjustments.

just whack some old game DVD cases under them I think this attitude is OK for cheap LCDs as the "wow bargain!" factor outweighs the minor annoyances, but if I'm dropping $500+ on a monitor, that's not something I'd want to have to do. |

I just sit mine on a wooden chessboard I made in highschool, it wasn't doing anything else :) What I would like though is the ability to tilt the thing forward more as it's slightly above my eye level and it seems this thing is best viewed from a slightly below eye level position. bollocks to that. |

I just bought the 22" ASUS MW221U, sweet monitor with great colour range. They actually have the worst colour range of pretty much the whole 22" widescreen range. |

If your really concerned about looks Nah. Ignoring warranty, out of a choice of different LCDs at the same price and specifications, I'll pick the one with the better stand. Like I said, BenQ for example has some of the worse stands ever, so I make a rule to avoid their LCDs now. Made of the cheapest plastic that looks like it could snap with the slightest amount of force, they sit very, very low .. requiring BOTH a thick Physics and Electronics textbook to bring it up to an acceptable height :) |

get the 22" CMV panel, it's the cheapest and has the best warranty / pixel conditions.
All 22" panels use the TN panel, so differences between then are quite negligible. |

we have 20+BenQ monitors.
If you base a 500$ decision on something as inconsequential as the stand, you're a petty moron. Stands can be changed replaced for 20$, not even. Realising the montior you're viewing sucks and the colours aren't as clear, is a 500$ fix. Weigh up your options and think realistically. |

If you base a 500$ decision on something as inconsequential as the stand, you're a petty moron. So you'd happily spend $500 on a monitor and not really care if the stand allows height adjustment, tilt or swivel, nor is very stable? How would a $20 stand replacement overcome this problem? I guess it wouldn't matter if you are sitting at the ideal desk on an ideal chair and the monitor just happens to be perfectly positioned. Or if you don't mind putting some big books under the LCD, which also happens to reduce its overall stability/balance. Stands can be changed replaced for 20$ Where can you get your specific stand replaced the same day for $20? Seems like a bit of f***ing around and waiting on the manufacturer when you could have just chosen an LCD with a better stand in the first place. last edited by parabol at 13:22:22 16/Mar/07 |

parabol - you can buy those swivel stands that clip onto desks or bolt into walls to mount your monitor I believe. I'd not buy SOLELY on the stand. I want to know that there's no colour bleed, or there's a better viewing angle on the screen I'm buying.
In saying that, I think you're definately entitled to your own opinion, but I think it's one that shouldn't necessarily be preached so loudly to unwanting ears :P certainly design is something to take into account, but not the only thing to judge on. |

Last post epic thread.
You're missing the point parabol The stand is a cheap fix, you can get many different stands for 20 - 50$. This is relatively cheap, when compared to buying a monitor that just isn't as good. You won't be looking at the stand, you'll be looking at the screen. |

how about you get a screen that has both a good stand and screen/panel - if that's what you're into.
Personally I agree with parabol, outlaying that sorta coin, I want it to be all good... however I can see the point of the others, if the panel is SIGNIFICANTLY better/cheaper/superior etc that didn't really help anything did it? |
