I think this means we're not #1 at ODI's anymore....I wouldn't put money on Aus to win the WC either...

Will still do well in the WC fellas, don't freak out. Our form isn't great, but every good team needs a little shake up every now and then. Plus look at the team we have in NZ - No Ponting, Gilly, Clarke, Lee, Symonds. Take away a team's Captain, VC/Keeper/Opening batsman, 2 form bastmen/all rounders and opening bowler and I think any side would struggle.

Seriously, even when gilchrist is in the team, u might as well say "no gilly".

Replacing him with Jaques isn't really changing the way the team is performing, aside from that one insane 100 in Perth, Gilchrist has been in poor form since the previous Ashes, in both forms. He isn't the same player he was a few years back.

Australia also needs to figure out why White is in the team, if the idea is he is an all rounder, let him bowl, he's been with the one day squad for over a month now, and gets SFA overs, its no wonder he isn't bowling well. Aust should hvae let him bowl 8-10 overs a game in the dead rubbers leading into the finals, to make him a stronger all around option for us. If he could do 8 good overs and be an awesome pinch hitter down the order, it'd have been awesome for the team. Symonds + White + Watson would mean 20 overs covered by 3 guys who could bat and we'd only need 3 specialist bowlers in our best ODI team (one of which is Brett Lee - who can bat). That would be an incredibly strong batting line up. Similar to an old South Africa team with Klusenar and Pollock coming in way down the order.

we need to fix our bowling

i still think we should have clarke in the side

im just nervous about taits randomness

cant help but think white was unlucky not to go to the world cup

also, watson needs to find form, with bat and ball, QUICKLY

piss hayden off and open with Watson.

leave White at #7 and when Symonds comes back he replaces Hodge at 5, or Watson as opener and Hodge goes to open.

OR he is a direct swap for white and either Watson or Hodge bat 7.

Clarke is injured, Clark was dropped. Honestly Clark hasn't really convinced me in ODIs. There's no doubt he's a crucial element in the future of the test attack, but even when he's taken wickets in ODIs he's been expensive as far as I can remember. Maybe when McGrath is gone there will be a more clear role for him given he's a similar type of bowler? But at the moment I think the Aussies are struggling for balance in their attack.

The attack has a few problems.

No decent spinner - which is their own fault because they left Hogg out in the cold for the CBA series with no explanation. Hopefully he comes good.

MacGrath no longer intimidates opposition batsman, he just sooks and walks back to his mark.

Tait and Lee are both hot and cold

Watson is bowling like he's in cotton wool and they are missing the variety of Symonds.

Clark is an average one-day bowler, if Lee doesn't get fit - pick Hilfenhaus.

9th highest individual ODI score. Will go on record as saying I am a Hayden ODI knocker, so this has completely taken me by surprise. GG.

And Watson getting amongst the runs at last too - all good signs.

anyone watch the game?

Hayden batted like s*** and was slow early and like his last century, gave up 3 easy catches before he made 50. He then broke his tow and cut loose.

Watson dominated the opening partnership while Hayden played himself in to save his spot. His injury is a blessing in disguise.

spidz I watched the first half (our batting) and just now watched the game highlights on sky sports.

Watson didn't look at all comfortable early on, I thought he could have gone at any time... and yeh Haydo's was playing for his place in the team, was just pushing and prodding, not smashing it like he normally does... that is until he got hit..

Our bowling is f***ed, no question about it, can't really blame the field either, we took a pearler (Voges) and a run out (Voges again) so we are aiming up there, the bowlers need to take a good look at themselves... twice now over 330 and we can't defend it.

Hayden may or may not play in the World Cup... wait and see with that

You mean 'Clark.' :)

Bah - it's only covered by DirecTV here in the US. So I guess I'm gonna have to stick with Streaming Media quality again.

At least the games will be on at a decent hour for me!

I'll get all the games live :D

They start at 1pm for me, so that's bloody handy, I'll see the second innings at home and monitor the first from work.
