But basically you need the step 4 in the above which is shorten here:

I'd like Apple a whole lot more if they could make home and small office hybrid networks straight forward for the average user. I have no problems mixing *nix based machines into the scene here at home or work, but Apples have always been a chore - one that has often left me leave me wondering why I bothered saying yes to the job in the first place

What sort of problems do you have koopz?

I was recently trying to get an apple working on a wifi network and has issues entering the key. Fortunately I'd overheard someone months before saying you need to put an "x" in front of the key when entering it in or something, so I managed to get it working - but I wouldn't have been able to at all without that knowledge.

that said, I've had at least as many problems trying to get windows boxes working on some wifi networks too.

Apple menu
System Prefs...
Print & Fax
Hit + to add a printer
Hold alt/option while clicking 'More Printers...'
Select 'Advanced' from the dropdown.
Change Device to 'Windows Printer via SAMBA
Change Device Name to whatever you want to call it
Change the URI to smb://username:password@office/canon
Select the model you want.

It sounds so straightforward when explained like that, doesn't it? No, in fairness, that took me four months.

trog,

For Hex keys, you need to sometimes have either x or $ in front of the key, depending on whether it's WEP, WPA etc.
