What? No thread yet?

I just miss the arguments, so I'll start this thread now. Close game at half time, the Colts up 16 to the Bears 14.

But most importantly, the ads: pretty ordinary showing so far - only two movie trailers and neither of them is terribly special.

The "GTA" Coke ad is pretty cool.

Superbowl, bleh.

Our work is having a function today which is all about the superbowl, i think its pathetic, and disgusting that an Australian company is promoting it. A few have refused to go as well.

What's pathetic about it? It's one of the most watched sporting events in the world. Personally, I'd rather spend some time watching American Football than watching the Melbourne Cup.

heh, the Kfed ad was tops - shame it was spoiled prior to its airing due to the governing body for fast food employees having a cry about it last week..

Yeh I've heard this before... that it's even more watched than the Olympics, but find it hard to believe. I think the whole of America tunes in, and that's it. As if anyone in Europe would give a s***. Actually, crazy azns might but other than that who really watches it?

No one in Australia cares, but probably would be more inclined to watch it if we got the straight broadcast with the proper ads and stuff without any of the crappy Australian crapiness (AND SBS ADS?!).

Is the bowl super enough to fit a whole bag of Cheesey Supremes in?

Colt's got up. I would have been happy with with either side winning this year though. Chicago needs a real Q.B.

1st quarter was very good, then Chicago lost the plot

I think the whole thing is a f***ing joke.

I bet most of you who watched it didn't watch many games of the 'normal' NFL season??

That being said, I just sat through all the commercials on that myspace site, dunno felt compelled to, odd I must say.

My findings are; budwiser has FAR to much money, they had like 10 commercials, I bet it cost them $100m for the commericals!??!?!

Also VERY, VERY suprised there wasn't a Vista add in there somewhere...

THE JOKES ON YOU HEARDY. I watched atleast 6 games of NFL this season. Still hate the delays between plays. I dont understand why they cant get on the field, old mate calls the name of the play and bam - execute that motherf***er.

ZING!!

and yeah that's one of my main beefs, the f***ing 4 hours it takes to play a game and the fact they have offensive and defensive 'teams' something like 44 f***ing players involved... that and the gay 'padding and crash helmets' they wear, play a real sport :p

p.s. I openly admnit I like to watch test cricket, whick does go for 8 hours and can be considered boring... but I just don't like NFL for the reasons stated above.

p.p.s. I LOVE the massive hits they make, but they aren't that common.

Also if you like NFL go watch Friday Night Lights (the tv series, there is some hawties in there too)

I'd watch NFL matches if they actually aired them regularly here in OZ, same goes for NHL matches even more so.

i used to love watching the nfl, back when it was on abc and done lane used to host it

best way to watch the game

all the delays cut out, just the action, plus all the highlights from the other games from the week

i admit, i cant watch a full game with breaks, its just too painful

we used to make a big effort for the superbowl (take the day off work, have a do etc) but havent done that for a few years now

Gay paddding and crash helmets make them the hardest guys i've ever run against ever.. this was without pads and a second string college team playing rugby for 'fun'..

These guys commiting to rucks and mauls was like little human meat missles launching themselves about 3 or 4 foot from the maul and flying into the side of it.. It stopped shortly after a while when we ran the boots over them a great deal but i've never been in so much pain after a game of rugby ever...

People often go on about the breaks etc.

Funny enough, the game isn't that much longer than a full length AFL telecast - SuperBowl is not an example of a standard game (half-time show, sponsor announcements, etc).

In fact, if you catch an AFL match live, you'll see the ad-break light go off to signal the umpie that it's ok to bounce the ball - they're back on the air.

True, that nothing beats the continual, non-stoppage of Union and to a lesser extent, League...but a regular NFL match is hardly stop/start/stop/start..

Ahh.. only a couple of weeks till preseason AFL and NRL. So only a couple of weeks of footy limbo. Thank christ for cricket.
