Hi guys, so my cpu fan died the other day so i went and got a Zalam CNPS9700NT. i opned my computer last night after coming home from work and GENTLY pulled the heat sink off to my suppirse the chip was stuck to it, normanlly not a problem but this time i couldnt get the damn thing off i applied a little presure and it flew off hitting the ground bending some Pins /cry.

so i try to bend them back but in the process 3 fell of /cry more.

anyways i need an AMD Athlon socket 754 ASAP. anyone know where i can get one? i have checked CA, umart, ebay (subbrisingly no luck, although i dont realy wanna get it from there anyway) and i also checked MSY no one seems to have these anymore.

any of have them? or know anyone wanting to sell one?

I think umart should do a sempron 3000+ or something similar, but if you're after an Athlon, you'd have to go second hand.

Ebay has quite a few semprons, most are insta sale but there was one currently sitting on $25.

Is it really that suprising the PC stores dont have them anymore, 754 is pretty much 2 generations obsolete!

An alternative idea would be to try and pick up a 939 mainboard and CPU, providing you have DDR400 RAM. 939 is also obsolete so it can be had for fairly cheap also.

yeah i tried that yesterday rubba i acctually called CA to see if i could get a 939 exactly as you said but no luck :( are you still working there? if so i might have a chat with you about getting a new system

According to their website these guys have some 3000+ athlons in stock. They are also located in Brisbane too, just no shopfront, however if you are that desperate I'm sure it wont cost that much to get a CPU couriered to you.

Yeah I am still working at CA. I know for a fact we have some 939 cpu's left - only a handful though, they are even still listed on the website! No idea on the mainboard front though, there might be something hiding in old stock.

I know if all else fails, I can get sempron 3000+ for you from my work. Cost is under $100.

i won't claim I'm the cheapest around, more-so because I don't want to retail a product cheaper than my customers could (we're a wholesaler), but I know I could get one for you on Monday, and that's for sure.
