We have an access point set up. All info entered into the DS lite and it connects without any problem.
Problem is it keeps disconnecting. Why can't it keep a constant connection? Tried with several different games/cartridges and the same thing. When connecting it has full coverage and then a few seconds later it dies. |

What encryption you using? If it's WPA, try WEP, if it's WEP 128 then try WEP 64 or no encryption all together.

We have tried WEP both 128 and 64 and no WEP key.
I don't think we have tried WPA though |

do you use the wireless for anything else? if so does it experience the dropouts aswell? you might find that someone near you has one of those cheap dirty 2.4ghz cordless phones that is interfering with your AP. i would experiment using different channels and see if the situation improves. |

tried dropping the AP's compatibility down to b only or whatever it is? When I connect my PSP to my AP it makes my laptop connect at a s***ty 11mbps because the AP drops itself down to B mode to cater for the s***house wireless sony graced the PSP with.

uh, silly question but I'm guessing the AP isn't too far away from the console? Tried it with a friends' wireless ap to see if it still drops? Maybe your DS is just shagged. I know windows xp's built in wireless client drops my AP all the time I keep seeing the stupid "wireless network found" popup box in the systray but the netgear client stays connected & doesn't drop out.
Can you upgrade the firmware on a DS? maybe there's a fix. |

Is this occurring only on your DS and not any of your other wireless devices? As an aside, the microwave could be a culprit too. At my house if someone goes to nuke some leftovers or such, the media center starts dropping packets left and right (they're in different rooms a decent distance apart.)
But ya, anything that outputs radiation in that frequency range has the potential to bugger up your wireless :/ |

Tried a metre above the AP(through wood) and in the same room as the AP (in line of sight). Drops out.
Not sure about firmware will look into that. The microwave is on the other side of the house and the phones aren't in the same room as the AP or DS (or in line of site between the two) and neither is the microwave. I think we just got a s***ty router that doesn't do a very good job as an AP. Stupid thing. With the ibook we got it working and it wouldn't crash the game when disconnecting. No idea what is different :( |

some routers have issues, maybe search gooogle to see if others have had trouble with the Nintendo Wifi Connection service.
Or just buy a Nintendo WFC USB adaptor that you plug into your PC to act as an AP for DS + Wii. |
