I'm really sick of having to re-create users profiles because they typed an incorrect username or password in to the webmarshal authentication window that pops up when trying to access external websites. The way it's set up if you cancel that window it doesn't ever re-appear however if you enter something once it appears every time you open ie. I'm guessing there must be a password cache or something stored in the users settings somewhere but i cant for the life of me find it. Can anyone help with this? I'm struggling to ask google the right question |

to clarify i've got these dumb people who like to type in f***ed things other than their user names for example "jon smith" instead of "brisbane\jonathen.smith" so now every time they open ie it pops up the webmarshal box with the user name "jon smith" regardless of whether you enter the correct user and password and click "remember user pass"
and they are idiots and call me to "fix their computer" because the internet doesn't work and they can't remember their user name /rant |

Can your proxy contact the authentication server correctly?
I assume it can because once you have entered it correctly the website proceeds to load. Is the proxy set to authenticate correctly against AD (i assume)? |

yep to all 3 - once you enter the correct user/pass (same as windows login) website loads but it doesnt remember this user/pass it only remember whatever you entered in the fields the first time it popped up.
re-creating the profile fixes the problem it just takes forever and you know if everything isn't exactly the way it was before you started you'll get a call in 5 seconds saying "i cant find this or that" :( |

WebMarshal and Netware pwns.
I assume that you just manage your user through normal AD. In Netware if they type their password wrong 3 times (and they only need to type their password is they are on a non SOE machine because we run a little Webmarshal login agent) you just reset the intruder lock out in your favourite eDirectory management tool. |

Well the account isn't coming up as locked out(?) but i've got a person checking to see if an AD password reset fixes. I was reading about a tool similar to that one but couldnt find a download cheers obes I'm grabbing it now.

Is it an IE auth window or something custom by WebMarshall? If it's the former then Obes is probably right that it could be IE remembering the user/pass via a cookie.

Well I think IE saves them in its Password list, but I am no IE expert.
So reset the profile should do it. And possibly even just changing the users password might do it ? |
