http://www.motherlan.yi.org/images/motherlan_news_header2.jpg The rousing success that was "MotherLAN" is returning in early 2007! Details are as follows... Date: Saturday & Sunday, January 27th & 28th 2007 Time: Doors open at 9:00 AM on Saturday and close at 12pm on Sunday Max Players: 200 Venue: McKennariey Centre, St Josephs Nudgee College Address: 2199 Sandgate Road, Boondall Age Limit: 15+ Registration: http://www.motherlan.yi.org/?ml=event&eid=3 Cost: $10 for one day, $15 for both ($2 extra if you arrive unregistered) What have you got in store for us now? We're hoping this event will be even bigger than the first. The hall can accomodate for up to 200 people in the same place, we won't be split up like at the first LAN. We'll have a bigger and better array of competitions and prizes. And we still hope to capture the very best elements of Lanvictims and SwitchLAN in the one place. You can expect to see organised games of DOTA, Q3, UT2k4 and Battlefield 2 just to name a few. Never been to a LAN before? No problem! MotherLAN will certainly be the place for you! How are you going to support 200 gamers? I'm glad you asked! We'll have 1x 48 port managed Netgear Gigabit switch for the core, which will branch off over 8x 4 port trunks to 8x 24 port managed Netgear Gigabit switches. This will give us a total of 176 full gigabit ports, which will be made available to gamers. We will also have another 2x 48 port gigabit switches on hand incase we need them. Damn! Where did you get all that hardware from? Well Billy, We've borrowed a lot of it from a few very generous people. We would like to thank Axe for loaning us his 2x 48 port gigabit switches, Thorndy for his 2x 24 port Netgear gigabit switches, KA-LAN for their 3x 24 port Netgear gigabit switches and Tom Leggett from Netgear for loaning us the 48 port Netgear gigabit switch for the network core. Where are you this time? Even though the original venue was absolutely superb, it simply isnt big enough for an event like MotherLAN. In light of this, we've moved 100m up the road to the McKennariey Centre, at St Josephs Nudgee College. http://www.motherlan.yi.org/images/maps/map.jpg When you enter the campus grounds via Sandgate Road, you will drive past the running track. Keep on driving straight until you reach the first intersection, then turn *right*. You are at the front of the McKennariey Centre. Continue on down this road and turn *left* into the first car park. The doors to the hall will be right infront of you. Below is a more detailed campus map. http://www.motherlan.yi.org/images/maps/map2.jpg I'd like to help! Oh really? The best way you could help us out is by spreading the word! You can do so by printing off and circulating these flyers at your school, university or office. http://www.motherlan.yi.org/A4_flyer_jan07.pdf - A4 Flyer (double sided, 1 flyer per A4 page) http://www.motherlan.yi.org/A5_flyer_jan07.pdf - A5 Flyer (double sided, 2 flyers per A4 page) |
