haha, waterloo station. i saw this on tv. suck bulls***. the phone is 10cms away and not moving. seriously, did u see all those comuters walking past? takes a few seconds to scan, and by that time youve walked past.

maybe in a pub or restruant where your just hanging around, but still, theyd have to have a portable pc and be sitting close.

my bluetooth thing has a range of like 100m. So I could find someone, hack their phone and make it call my premium number all while they're walking past. Once they're out of the 100m radius who cares if they're out of range they've already called the premium number.

oops.

i got that software :]

I do security for a living so have all the cool stuff to doing this :]

my nokia 6280 has a program called blooover on it which will find hackable phones.

so yeah.. turn off your bluetooth and only use it when connecting to something..

hence why i use a cable headset still cause if you connect to another device things can still connect and hijack your phone.

I've seen Blue Jacking before in a lot of 'special' movies.

i keep my bluetooth on all the time and just keep it hidden.

the other day my gf and i went to the movies at hoyts. They have some kind of bluetooth advertising set up in their foyers while you wait in line for tickets that spams your phone with ads and my gf's phone wasn't in hidden mode.

she now had hidden bluetooth set on her phone too. ;)

Mines always off. I think I only ever used it once, new years a couple of years ago when some random wanted to send me some ringtones. Meh.

I use bluetooth to connect my phone to my pc because the usb plug on my phone is also the charging jack & if I plug it into the usb it starts charging the phone, even if it's fully charged. In the past that's been bad for batteries though I'm not sure about modern batteries but I still don't like doing it.

It's fine for Lithium Ion batteries, as they often have supporting circuitry to stop overcharging and also depletion (which is also bad).

Well I dunno but shortly after I did use the cable the battery wouldn't hold a charge for more than a day. So I let it go completely flat, unplugged it, put it back in then left it to charge & now it seems fine so I'm never using the cable again :)

You can't do s*** to my phone. Other people can't acess my files or put files on. Because it has a security lock on it. Whenever there is a bluetooth conntection attempt or connetion, I have to enter the phone unlock code before it sends or receives anything.

Thanks for sharing sLiNky (<- Look I even made an effort to spell your name right). Since you asked, mine is off most of the time but when on, is hidden.

Most of these hacks circumvent your phone's "security".

It's similar to Outlook Express users claiming that they can't get worms/viruses as long as they don't explicitly click on emails and attached executables. Unfortunately some worms can silently install due to exploits inside the email client, requiring no user intervention.
