sp guys. merry christmas etc

driving home from gold coast today after spending xmas with GF and parents in some stupidly richo hotel at cooly.

im driving along in the right lane doing 100clicks, its raaining sort of heavily, nothing really bad though, im going past springwood.

when all of a sudden i get this really weird feeling under the car. sort of felt like the car was floating, i dont remember exactly but the wheel felt really strange also. i thought the road must have been f***ed or something.

i go to change lanes, shoulder check n indicate, just touch the wheel, and bam, there she goes.

my car goes into a complete spin, spinning 3 full rotations and i end up like at least 200m down the road where it started on the far left lane, missed everything and everyone somehow. ended up about 3M from the concrete barrier.

Then my car battery is flat cause my alternaters f***ed, so i push the car into the break down lane, and some mad c*** pulls over and has leads and i jump start my car, crawl it home in the left lane. then its raining harder, and my f***ing windscreen wipers just stop working!! blown fuse.. f***ing HELL!

very scary s***. assessing it now my old man and other ppl say a combo of pretty badly bald front tyres, possible oil and s*** on the road lifted from lack of rain, and maybe aqua plain was the cause. it was the weirdest feeling .

Grats, you almost learned with your life one of the most important things about cars.
You never drive on worn front tyres, ever. If you can't afford new fronts you should either stop doing burnouts and rotating the tyres, stop driving or cry to daddy to buy you new ones.

maybe your wipers stopped working coz your battery is flat? or was it a fuse? Didn't your amp keep blowing fuses or was that someone else? If I were you I'd sell your s***ter and buy a car that actually works, then don't f*** with it, leave it stock.

scary s***; I drove back on the M1 today from the coast as well and was blown away by the sheer number of asshats who were driving as if it was bright and sunny when in fact visibility was no more than 40 meters because of the rain. Some R-tard was tailgating me for ages before I finally got the s***s and gradually slowed down until he overtook me and proceeded to tailgate someone else at 110km/h.

whoop pretty sure my car isnt a s***ter its a 2000 VS ute with 95000 k's on it.

the amp kept blowing the amp fuse because they think it got wet somehow and f***ed the circitry. the fuse blew on my wipers, not sure why.

The batterys they put in VS utes are s***ters anyway.

stop talking s*** you dumb f***.

also yeah loki i never knew this.... while reading this thread got 2 phone calls and they were all basically the exact tone youre taking.. no one ever told me this >_< i knew they were important but not like crash starting worthy.

also loki never done a single burn out in my car, owned it since start of august.. TBH i dont even know how to do them in an automatic.

my car is a f***ing kingswood, everything works, the wiring is solid as a rock no fuses blow. My car is like 30 years older than yours yet works better. Nope sorry mate, your ute is a s***ter.

TBH i dont even know how to do them in an automatic.
Left foot on the brake, right foot on the accelerator :P
Push the accelerator down slowly until the wheels start spinning (avoids putting sudden force on your drivetrain and beaking gearboxes, tailshafts or diffs), then plant the accelerator to the floor..
Release as much brake as you can and balance it on the point of moving forward and staying still..... Then watch the tyres fry :P

This is to be done in an official burnout comp only.... of course.... yes.... :P

If you've got an LSD or the torque to get both tyres spinning in an open, you can have fun crabbing the car all the way down the burnout strip, like doing a huge slow drift, but from torque rather than momentum :)

We had a car crash infront of our house the other week (first rain in a while). 4WD vs Commodore. Not something you like to witness first hand.

Glad you are okay

Gotta love aquaplaning =)

Had the same thing happen to me years ago on the SE Freeway neer Juliet st exit inbound. Not much other than just hold on an hope for the best cause you sure as s*** don't have any traction. I was just lucky I skipped in between two cars instead of smaking em

Oh, an tyres were still new

Tyres have a tread to push water out from underneath it out to the sides. Considering it's the only thing between you and the earth I replace them before they hit the tread line and if you have an accident and your insurance company finds bald tyres it will void your policy.

Simple.

If you have an accident, remove all your tyres and set them alight before anyone arrives on the scene. That way they can't prove anything.

doesn't work in either of my autos. turn the engine off it just rolls since it's not a direct drive although I guess in the wet it might make the wheels slip?

I aquaplaned my car doing about 80 or so down Borella road. The feeling was so surreal and scary. Luckily I knew what it was right away, so I just released the accelerator and held the wheel straight. Came out unscathed but a whole lot wiser.

Here's another fun thing to have happen

Wind gets underneath your car an pretty much has the same effect as aquaplaning
I was hooking along the Gateway (again years ago) just North of airport (big sweeping left hander) in a heavily lowered XD when a crosswind somehow got underneath me at 140 an my whole vehicle was picked up an float lifted about a metre sideways. That would be close to the scariest motoring moments of my life, especially as I had my older brother in the car with me (whose 6 years older than me) as I could have killed him if I hadn't been able to retain control (thanks to his years and years of teachings !)

Yes I know I was being a tard for travelling at that speed, again, lesson learned
Oh, an for the record - I've been driving since I was 8 as I grew up on a farm however that was the first time I've ever encountered wind shear

Yeah it was my old XD that aquaplaned. I guess it's the wide tires and such. The freaky thing is the front tires were new and the rear ones were in fairly good condition with a lot of tread. The thought of 1.4 tons of car hitting something at high speeds is scary :(
