I just saw an ad for strathfield saying if you get a phone on their $38 a month plan, you can get an xbox360 pro pack + game for an extra $12 a month. plan is for 24 months.

the $0 phones you get are pretty s***, so i would want to keep my current w900i and just use the optus sim from the deal. that wouldnt be an issue right? then i could just hock off the free phone that i got..

seems like a pretty good deal, as i really would like a 360 just for the media center shiz. what do you guys think? is there something dodgy i am not aware of?

from seeing those deals back when I was in Aus, you are better off just buying an xbox outright if you want one.

1) the phone is s***
2) the plan is probably s***
3) over 24 months you'll basically pay the cost of an xbox anyways
4) the plan would be s***
5) no doubt its only available for 'new' customers i.e. you cant port an existing number etc...

The 360 is a s*** media box. You have to jump through hoops on fire to do anything you really want to do, like watch your pirated movies, etc.

For the same price you can pickup one of these. Makes your wet dreams come true without all the flaming hoops.

I got a phone on this deal. I needed a new phone for an employee and it fitted the bill. You only get 38bux worth of calls but you can nominate 5 Optus numbers (landline or mobile) and the 1st 5 minutes of the call is free.

All our mobiles and landlines are on Optus so, works well for us and I scored a free Xbox360 :p

I did this last year except it was for a PSP - same thing, $38/mth, s*** phones, etc. At the time I didn't care since work paid for mobile account :)

Now since I'm paying for my own I wouldn't do it - the plan is ass and as soon as the contracts up I'll be glad.

Also - use an original Xbox, Modded, XBMC & HD adapter if you want a media centre.
