hey all... So according to the news and nintendo.com they are replacing the wiimote straps with a sturdier version.
There's a website to get replacements sent, but its for USA and Canada only. Anyone got any info re how to get them replaced here? |

If a new version of windows came out you'd wait a little bit to buy it while they sorted out the problems, but you just had to rush out and buy some experimental console beta thing that you probably never used before, and now you're stuck with the elastic band that is usually stapled into a plastic superman mask at woolworths!

Did you read the links you provided?
Because Wii consoles shipped starting in early December already utilized the newer version of the strap, you will need to determine which version of the strap you have before ordering a replacement. |

Err tennis rackets have these things that assist in the gripping them can't remember what they're called... oh yeah GRIPS. I'm yet to thrown mine but the remotes are made out of plastic and combined with a sweaty palm I can see how one might slip out of your hand. |

I know ive thrown a few golf clubs at the driving range. But you realy dont need to swing the remote nearly as hard with the Wii, but you just end up doing it cause you get into the game too much.

Yeah, I was skeptical of the usefulness of the straps too. Then I was playing bowling, trying to get a dead-straight bowl, and the tip of the wii-mote caught on the (somewhat puffy) pocket of my pants, slipped out of my hands, then spun around my wrist in a useless fashion. That incident keeps me wearing the straps. The major problem in that situation was that I was playing in a crowded room.
But my Dad has hit my wii-mote on a coffee table, made a nice little *crack* noise too. |

it does seem kinda silly not being able to hold onto the remote, that being said, when you've been playing for a bit your hand does start to sweat so the straps are handy... even though they appear like they wouldnt do much.
i think those silicon grip things would be cool also. in fact the only time i've played without the strap was when we were playing 4 player bowling with 2 remotes. straps are very handy. |

well at this children's hospital i see heaps of kids dropping normal console controllers. so strap is definitely necessary.
