Ive been experimenting with vodka lately to make a _nice_ tasting blend (softdrink taste smoother then smirnoff ice) while having the same if not more alcohol in the drink.. Mainly lately i've been experimenting with vodkas so tell me this: *If you drink straight alcohol, then some of these questions don't apply to you* 1) [What] do you mix with [Ins Alcohol] to make it more drinkable [and quantities] 2) [Spirit] you rate best taste when taken straight? 3) [Spirit] you rate worse taste taken straight? 4) [Alcohol] that makes you throw up the most? (I throw up almost everytime i drink vodka, but its clear and the guy at the shop said that gin tastes worse) 5) What [premixed drink] do you think tastes best? ------------------ My general vodka mix per 330ml is: 1) Put 200mls of Flavoured Drink [lemonade or solo] into Measuring Cup 2) Put that into Large Cup 3) Put 60mls into Measuring Cup 4) Fill measuring cup up to just below 130 (200 + 130 = 330) 5) Tip measuring Cup through cloth Strainer into Large Cup 6) Tip contents of large cup through strainer to another large cup 7) Poor contents into a bottle or drink from cup 8) Best ice cold 9) Recarbonate if flat 10) If doesnt taste good enough, add softdrink syrup (6.5% alcoholic) ------------------ Mix i tried tonight for a 4xdrink(35ml) in 340mls: 1) 140mls vodka (4 drinks) 2) 5mls 'XStream' softdrink syrup (its vee/redbull type drink in a syrup) 3) 15mls Lite-Lemonade syrup (more runny then non-lite) 4) Blend 1/2/3 together (not sure if this was a good or bad thing) 5) 80mls lemonade 6) 100mls soda water (15% alcoholic) 7) Recarbonate if goes flat 8) Drink ice cold ^^ That one was really strong, so I halved the contents and filled the rest with another 10mls of lemonade syrup, and 5mls of cola syrup then filled the bottle with more lemonade - tasted okay then ------------------- Problem with using concentrated syrups is that too much of it will make the drink more sickening then drinking it straight, so i came out with this mix: 1) 70mls vodka (2 drinks) 2) 5mls 'XStream' softdrink syrup 3) 10mls Lite-Lemonade syrup (more runny then non-lite) 4) 5mls cola 3) Blend 1/2/3/4 together (not sure if this was a good or bad thing) 4) 240mls lemonade 5) Recarbonate if goes flat 6) Drink ice cold ^^ That one was heaps better, but still seemed to taste alot stronger then the first 60ml one.. (7.5% alcoholic) ------------------- I really want to make the drink strong, but not taste the alcohol - so i can get f***ed off acouple drinks and not have to really force myself to go through the process.. Also when i blended the alcohol and opened up the top, a white gas appeared - was that fumes from the alcohol or alcohol itself? is it bad if it floats away/does it make it less alcoholic? -------------------- Last time i went out it took 2.5L of goon and 4xSmirnoffs before I couldnt walk straight - so im looking at packing all that into a single drink :D! |

I drink beer.
Tequila is easy to shot, Gin is a f***ing horrible drink. First and last time i drank it was schoolies in 2000. I still have nightmares about it. Heaps of people love it though. Dunno if you'd class bundy draft as a premix but its gooood. |

Step 1: Grab Bottle of Burboun.
Step 2: Remove Cap Step 3: Drink Step 4: Drink Step 5: Drink Step 6: Drunk Step 7: Beat on chest like King Kong as you were manly enough to not go about using measuring cups to drink alcohol. |

I dunno why people want to get so f***ed they end up spastic anyway; you pay the price the next day plus its freaking terrible for you.
While stinky's sentiment is pretty valid, you could also just try drinking those girl drinks which taste like candy water. I imagine you could reproduce them at home by just heaping sugar into vodka and lemonade or something. |

Bourbon & dry with no ice. Nice bourbon, like makers mark, or wild turkey.
If you're trying to make a drink that will kill you, I had one made for me when I was about 17. My very helpful work mates said "Just go up to the bar and ask for a mother f***er.". So I did. It was a shot of every white spirit in a middy (or pot) glass with a dash of lemonade and orange juice. It actually didn't taste too bad, but you certainly knew you were drinking it :) |

Bailey's is pretty nice to have straight, theres some new caramel flavor out i want to try.
Rum is pretty dirty to have straight, but you're a pussy if you can't do it. Umm, Gin & Soda water is pretty nice tasting (i know it's usually mixed with tonic water, but..), i had a decent amount of that London Bombay stuff about 50:50 with soda water, went down very smoothly. When i do vodka i usually just mix it with lemonade or something. |

try a good vodka like stolichnaya, smirnoff is horridas a bar manager with a serious passion for booze done well and as someone who undertakes a fair amount of "professional development" and "excessive product loyalty" i respectfully disagree. chemically, smirnoff is the cleanest vodka in the world. their ad about the new york times doing a blind taste test of 21 vodkas is true. smirnoff was only added to the list because it is the worlds largest selling spirit. by far. Rum is pretty dirty to have straight, but you're a pussy if you can't do it.you're just drinking the wrong kind of rum. we got a couple of free sample bottles of angostura, the company that makes the most common bitters. the 1919 and the 1824. tastes like love. also, as someone who takes booze way too seriously for a living i absolutely deplore your intentions. booze done well is a beautiful thing, like cooking an amazing meal. anyone can get s***faced and hate the taste. i dont do the most common shots of chartreuse, absinthe, sambucca (basically anything with a strong anise flavour) for that reason. there are better ways to make booze taste good than adding a s***load of sugar and that don't really cost that much more. and back to the vodka, it's pretty much tastless. it just tastes like burning. tastes like booze. for shots it must be ice cold. for mixing it is incredibly versatile. brilliant over ice with a bit of muddled lime. ninja edit. last edited by z0r at 05:19:36 14/Dec/06 |

i think its a bit to nerdy to accurately measure your alcohol, i just whip a bit of rum into a glass, fill up with coke and drink, usually ends up being more like half half towards the end of the night cos the drunker i get the more retarded my motor skills are in pouring and my eyesight grows poor, hence why fat chix are now hot.

americans don't know how to make vodka, it's as simple as thatYou fail. original purveyors of the russian court. also, don't be silly. when i say vodka is tasteless let me qualify. vodka is distilled to around 98% and then goes through filtration. using smirnoff for an example, in a continuous still process for high volume production and most efficient distillation (which means less impurities, as distillation removes impurities) and then the charcoal filtration process, which i have witnessed with my own eyes on a small scale, removes taste. vodkas that don't undergo such stringent filtration process have more impurities, hence adding "taste". another thing that removes taste is when alcohol approaches 40%+ it starts to numb your tastebuds. that's why you should always drink good scotch with a dash of spring water so you can appreciate the flavour without your tastebuds being affected. i'd just like to point out, saying "who cares about 'chemically cleaner'" in this context is like saying "i don't care if all the scientific evidence and facts support the theory of evolution, i thing intelligent design sounds like a solid argument." and strex know where it's at. if i asked for anything with lime and a bartender put lime cordial in it, i'd ask them to make me another one. with lime. |

your own link says you fail
original purveyors of the russian court. "Smirnoff claimed his distillery was the first in the world to use the charcoal filtering process. However this was found to be incorrect. By 1886 the Smirnov factory received the official purveyors to the Imperial Russian court mark." wow, in 1886. what year are we in now? 2006 or something isn't it? "However, the Great Depression made Vladimir Smirnov sell the brand to an American, Rudolph Kunett, in 1934 who moved the company to the USA. Thanks to the introduction of Vodka Cocktails and successful advertisement campaigns Smirnoff Vodka is the best selling vodka in the world. It is now owned by British drinks giant Diageo." over 70 years of being a yank mob, plus the usefulness of your dopey claims of best-selling drink shattered by facts. they cover up the s*** taste with fruit and market the ass out of it, and voila, dumbos who think they are cultured in taste go nuts buying it i'd just like to point out, saying "who cares about 'chemically cleaner'" in this context is like saying "i don't care if all the scientific evidence and facts support the theory of evolution, i thing intelligent design sounds like a solid argument."I'd just like to point out, saying that in this context is _nothing_ like saying that at all. I'd also like to point out that introducing the idea that one vodka is allegedly a chemically cleaner product than another, has any bearing on whether a vodka tastes better than another, is the reasoning of a crack-addicted monkey. real vodka, not s***-tasting crap like smirnoff |

ahh trog, it isn't french. I'm guessing it is made by French people employing French methods and French experience and the only American part is the money? Which means it's French. But I'm just speculating. I must say I'm awful fond of a Grey Goose Martini...but maybe just because I like the name. 42 Below is also excellent....goes extremely well in a White Russian. Southern and Coke with muddled lime is brilliant....the lime balances out the sweetness of the Southern. People go on about how Southern is a girly drink but generally they're the type of people who drink straight 'Bundy' cause it's tough. |

Chub, I have no idea what you're saying here...Like someone said, there's 10 standard drinks or so in a bottle. I can scull 2 glasses (basically a bottle) in 30 seconds. How the hell could you not get pissed? |
