Bond to Sangakkara, 1 run, OUT, what's going on here, Sangakkara whips that down to fine leg and the single brings up his century, but Murali touched down at the striker's end, turned around and left his crease to congratulate Sangakkara, the throw came in and McCullum whipped off the bails to run-out Murali, what a way for the innings to end. The ball was not dead and Murali should not have left his crease, it's all very unfortunate for Sri Lanka. GG Murali, playing as many tests as he has and pulls off something this rediculously stupid. |

It's not poor sportsmanship. Murali should have known the ball wasn't dead if it hadn't been returned to the keeper yet. He should protect his wicket better.

I read about this, sounds like such a stupid thing to do...regardless of sportsmanship, surely you'd think a man of his experience wouldn't be silly enough to put himself in that position

wait i'm not great with the rules of cricket, but if you are run out on a single wouldn't that mean the run was not scored and therefore sangakkara never got his century?
or is it only when the striker gets run out that works that way? |

Murali was run out, not Sangakkara.
Also, they finalised the first single, then he left his crease to say "Grats" (Could have been mistaken as going for a second I spose, but people dont walk for seconds) and got run out. Also, He shouldn't of been out. He shouldn't of even been on a cricket pitch. At all. Ever. |
