Topic: Ever had a radar flash the wrong person?

I was just on my way home earlier tonight, and knew there was a radar at a certain position because i saw it when i left.. so on my way home, when i got close to it i sat a little under the limit (but the car i was driving i think has the speedo out by 8, so if i was doing 56, i wouldve really been on 48)..

Anyway a commodore was sitting right up my ass, and just as the lanes split from 1 to 2, we had the radar coming up in about 20m, and the commodore floored it to overtake me, and just as he was passing me the flash went off (but the radar was on the other side of the road, so i think that the camera would have only seen me)..

So i noted everything i remembered from what had happened so that if i get a ticket, i have a detailed description of what had just happened.

Anyone else had this type of situation where they get the wrong person and you have to try defend yourself?

If there are two vehicles in the shots taken that are of similar size and shape then as far as I know, it's thrown out cause the radar can't accurately detect the speed of either vehicle.
... or something like that.

speed camera's also take a test shot every now and again so it could have nothing to do with the other car.

I'd leave out the thing about your speedo being off. Your car isn't road worthy is it's more than 2.5km/h out IIRC.

yeah i was doing 100 in a 100 zone and i swore i was the only one on the road for a little while and it flashed, i was going to be very pissed off if i got a ticket cause i was watching my speed just as i looked up and it flashed.

the other person in the car said there was a car not far behind must have been in my blind spot or something

i never got a ticket. f***in c***s

i am fighting for my license in court on tuesday incidentally though :p

lol, I'm with paveway on that.
I snapped my speedo cable ><

I just use the revs as well.

Only a complete SK would have both [for at least some period of them both working] a tacho and a speedo and not know where they both sit respective to each other at every common speed interval.

a friend's speedo was f***ed on his r31 and he's wanted to pull the plug out of the gearbox on mine to look at it and i knew he was going to wreck mine, sure enough when i was driving home the speedo dies

it's easy as to fix i'm just lazy, more important things to do

My Spedo is under by atleast 10% :/ Sucks Sitting the Spedo on 90 to go 100...

GPS for Speed works well though ^^ Dont kow how accurate it is though.
Being the kind of GPS it is, Position accuracy could only be +-10m At best. Should be able to judge Change of position well enough though.

We got multiple Sigma's all with different speedo's.

On is actually around 35km/hr under... it's weird going 40k's around the streets and blasting pass everyone.

sounds like the dash is probably f***ed rather than the actual working gear of the speedo

unless you have some seriously balla rims on it

Different Differential ratio's or even gearbox's will put the speedo out.
Even the wrong speedo tooth/cog at the box end will put it out (if it's a manual).

Most oldschool cars like those sigma's if they're a manual will have em.
so if you change the drive ratio you just change the small gear in the box to the right colour/ratio and it's correct again.

Whoop: I have an auto and yeah it does.

It's not perfect but for freeway driving as in pave's scenario, you're virtually always just on that point where you are keeping revs to not decelerate or accelerate anyway.
