Hi guys, any of you know where i can get a free webcast of the upcoming Ashes series.
I know of an audio only site i have used in the past, but if anyone here can help an aussie ex-pat out in his hour of (desperate) need it would be appreciated.

Cricket Australia has blocked any online video coverage at the request of their broadcast partners.

f***you Channel 9.

BBC have done a deal enabling them to stream it to people in the UK.

From here

Cricket Australia has placed severe restrictions on online video coverage of the much-anticipated series between Australia and England, starting in Brisbane on Thursday.

The Ashes online shut-out follows similar moves by other sporting organisations including the National Rugby League and Australian Football League. Both football codes banned online media outlets from video coverage of press conferences during this year's finals series.

It all becomes clear now.

For the first time, cricket fans who go to www.cricket.com.au/tv/ will be able to watch every ball of the summer at a cost of $US4.95 ($6.40) a day or $US24.95 for the season, but only in markets where live broadcasts are not available, such as continental Europe.

In Australia, where the Nine Network and the ABC have the TV and radio rights respectively, viewers will be able to watch a daily 10-minute highlights package on the site at the end of the day's play.

How lame.

Ara - do you know where you can stream it from BBC? I tried listening to it on BBC 5 Live Sports Extra on the net but they aren't allowed to stream it on there. I assume you could probably tune your radio in but I don't have one...

And we can't listen to ABC radio online over here either which sucks - no Kerry O'Keefe!

you can't stream it from the BBC at all i am afraid.
"Five Live Extra, your home for all sports. Unfortunatly due to contractual arangements we cannot broadcast the show currently on due as we do not have the internet broadcast rights"
or something like that.
I tried to get onto the CA site to pay the AU$25 for video feed for the whole series, but it is all f***ed up at the moment.
Unfortuantly you being in the UK, you are not allowed to even get that.
This ashes is turning out to be f*** up after f*** up on Cricket Australia's part.

I've got the BBC news channel on at the moment and during their story they didn't actually show any footage, just interviews with Ponting and Giles. Had to stream the 1 minute highlight packages from ninemsn. This sucks hard.
