Topic: Mosquito killers? Bug Zappers?

Hey all,

Has anyone had any decent findings with bug zappers? Are they worth it? is there any ongoing costs? Do they actually kill mossies or just bugs?

My fiance gets hammered by mossies, and I have a 15 week old baby who I don't want to get bitten by mossies. My fiance gets massive welts that swell like a platform on her skin :(

btw its breeding season for mouse spiders they are venemous.

I think bug zappers attract more bugs and mozzies than they kill. I thought when we used one there was way more bugs around..

Yeah, good ol school mozzie coils have always been the trick.

Only downside really is that they are a burning ember an can be knocked over an set s*** alight
FIX: Get a pet bowl that has a moat (to keep out ants), that way if it falls over, it lands in water an goes out

If you really have a bug/mozzy issue then its worth spending the money and getting a proper zapper. My parents house back on to a bush reserve and a little creek so at some times of the year its mayhem.
Ours works brilliantly, only problem weve had with it is some poor, stupid litte lizzards sometimes get into it and the deck smells like fried gecko.
Anyway, would highly recommend.

mmmm fried gecko

my old man had a gecko crawl up and die in his powersupply. Couldn't work out where the 'dead smell' was coming from for about a week. Eventually isolated it to the computer, took the powersupply apart, removed dead gecko and put it back together again. powersupply worked fine!

^ Yeah wouldnt be the first time, the last couple of years I worked with a computer refurbisher, couldnt get the fan to work properly on this particular machine until we got in there with a torch and a pair of tweezers. Poor little fella.
Apparenty it isnt that uncommon as one would think.

Keeping the fly screen doors closed is the best way. Then before I goto bed I have a quick look around the room to check for the c***s, cause nothing s***s me more when trying to sleep and a Mosquito is buzzing around my ear.

just make sure the zapper is like 30ft away from you

so many people put them where they are sitting - and the bugs just fly near you

And keep them on 24/7, so they will eventually kill everything in there range. I've got through 2 zappers in about 3 years (you can get them repaired but i just grab a new one, less mucking around) and have had no mozzie problems in my back yard.

I was actually gonna do a post about this.

What about those things u plug into a wall socket that are meant to create a magnetic field thru your house or some s*** and keep all the insects out? Are they a crock of s*** or do they work?
