Maybe he is a Dwarf and he makes the toad look really big.

Maybe he is a dwarf and the cane toad is some sort of vampire cane toad, that would explain the shadows.

From here. That is fkn huge and you'd need more than a golf club.

^ we actually used shotguns on toads when we were kids, kinda like ground level clay pigeon shooting to see how many you could get in one hit =)
