utorrent has been working fine for me up until a couple of days ago when the d/l simply stopped. the status says "downloading" but the d/l speed shows as zero on all torrents and there is no activity whatsoever. I tried restarting etc etc but nothing works. I even left it on over night thinking that maybe it was just slow to start but still nothing.
I recently had my optus account suspended for a day of two for non-payment (all sorted now). Is it possible that Optus have blocked utorrent somehow? I am back online now and everything else works fine, and I haven't exceeded my limit for the month.

I run peer guardian as well.

Anyone had a similar problem?

you can just download linux from the particular distribution's website

It's possible that your torrent client is an older version and has been blocked by the site/tracker you are using (if your using a private site).

doesn't utorrent have a port tester built into it? thats the quickest way to see if your getting blocked. I'd also try the idea of installing an updated version, even if it doesn't fix the problem, it can't hurt.

Test off one of the ausgamers torrents - http://www.ausgamers.com/files/torrents.php - the bf2 patches should start more or less immediately.

If they don't, try disabling peerguardian - anything that BLOCKS PEERS might be contributing to your p2p application not working correctly :)

I tried utorrent for a while but I couldn't get it to download faster than dial up speed so I switched back to Azureus.

with my pc/router combo, pnp and utorrent never worked propperly

would open the port and then it would close and drop back to slow ass speeds

i just turned off pnp and forwarded a port, and its back to good times

I found utorrent to be quite slow, then set the upload speed higher than before and now it just cains in the downloads.

i have found that most p2p software is slow when first installed but when properly setup for your connection by someone who isn't a total noob, then they go faster. :P~

uTorrent has the makings to be good, but alas, fails. ABC FTW!

In what area does uTorrent fail? I switched to it a while ago and haven't even thought about looking back. In fact I'm only asking why you think it fails so i can scoff at your response and feel even more smugg.

The fact that it wouldn't download any faster than 3k a sec no matter what I tried and the uPnP licks balls. Open ABC with minimal interaction ( set a port range - watch out ), WHY HELLO THAR 500k a sec. Therefore uTorrent... gets.. an... F!

buh bummmmmmm... FAILURE. Although I do like the no-install version.

Scoff away, please. I'll take my abc and nevar look back :)

Last time I heard ABC was a filthy piece of cheating software which told the tracker it was uploading more than it actually was so even though the user had set uploads to 0 (as in no return sharing) and is banned on few of the private trackers for that very reason

filthy lying juarez monkehs

I like utorrent because I can just download it & run it then delete it every time there's a new linux iso or game demo or whatever the hell I use it to download. No installation necessary.

ABC 3.1 you can't set uploads to 0 and you can't make it stop uploading straight atfer the torrent has finished. In earlier version yes you could do this but it also had an older protocol which was banned on probably every tracker cause it used more bandwidth than everyone else. Now it's much more efficient and no "cheaty" parts are there.
