I have a Razer Copperhead mouse, which is great once you get used to it, however the cord is stiff and it doesn't track well with the Steel 5L Pad.
Can anyone suggest a good mouse pad (say the Razer Mantis for example) to use the Copperhead with, and whether or not it's worth investing in a Mouse Bungee? |

i made my own mouse bungee. piece of piss so imho not worth buying one. Unless of course they're like $5 and you have nothing laying around to make one out of.
edit: big-w allsop mousepad here, one of those ones with the water drop looking patterns on it. no troubles for my ms optical mouse I can kain it across the pad at top speed & it doesn't skip. last edited by whoop at 00:09:53 20/Sep/06 |

Whats so special about these mice, they just look like a generic mouse with blingin coloured lights added.
Sure it has a high dpi laser to track with, but from a quick comparison of specs looked pretty much on par with the Logitech G7/G5 mice. If the cord bothers you that much you considered changing to a cordless? I was very dubious at first but its all been smooth sailing. As for tracking, I've found the cheapest of cheapass cloth topped pads work the best out of everything I have ever tried both for the laser and optical mice I've had... and yeah they die after a while but when they cost like $1 each who cares :) |

The pads on the bottom of the razer mice are incredibly smooth when used on the right surface. Standard cloth pads you pick up for under $5 are rough and actually make a lot of sound without you noticing, because you're used to it. The Razer on the Steel 5L Pad is a great combination, just unfortunately the laser doesn't track as well as it could. Otherwise, the size and feel of this combination is perfect.
As for the cord, it's just stiff and I am currently trying to use my speaker as a bungee of a sort, but I'm thinking an actual bungee might make it even more bearable. |

You can actually hear your mouse making noises on the mousepad over the sounds of the game?!

I find it had to believe that a modern current top of the range wireless mouse with 1000's of DPI is s***, next your going to tell me that 100fps+ is a must to playing, especially online. Because a) the game doesn't respond that mush with the server b) the amount of information being passed from the mouse to the computer is minimal compared to the bandwith of the wireless reciever.
As for the friction element on the mouse legs, then yes you'll need a good pad, but the applications requireing this are usually drawing related, where a pen/pad thingy is better (only observation not based on actual usuage). For gaming just turn up the sensativity and shorthen the movement required. That said, a smooth surface for the guide legs does make it feel better, I use Mr Sheen as it is a silicone and wax based polish that leaves a nice smooth glide surface, best on laminates and sealed surfaces. |

I have a Microsoft Laser 6000 cordless mouse, and there is a very obvious delay -- impossible to play with ... type /r_swapinterval 1 in quake 3 and that's how much of a delay there is. I don't know about other mice, but I refuse to risk buying another, plus the weight is too much with the batteries.
As for the surface, it's about being able to aim smoothly without slipping. My aim has increased a lot since using this combination, so I'd say it'd improve even more if it tracked properly. |

It's a shame that they never kept on with gaming mice that had no scroll wheel. The old mouseman+ and logi wingmans were awesome.
