Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for good webmail sites.

I have been using webmail.net.au but I have come to the uplifting realisation that it is so f***ing hideously ugly its insane.

I need to be able to log into it with me@domain.com etc and http access port is preferred.

Yeah I dont think it will do what I want it to to trog :|

I want to keep it on my server, but retrieve it through a webmail service that you just login with your email address and password

If I want to get gmail to work I have to forward it to gmail

So your domain is hosted there, where is your email stored/hosted and what operating system / mail package is it running?

Arr you finking what i'm finking shaggy?

Most web hosts should already have webmail installed - you just need to find it. If not you can always install something like horde (for the horde!!!!!!) or squirrelmail.

Well thats what I was thinking but it is possible he has only the domain through them and a server elsewhere, such as home or a business. Hence the OS question, so he could install Squrirrelmail or something along those lines.

No, he is right, because they have integrated it through CPANEL, his provider, like most, run the webmail on a different port (2095) which is f***ed if you are trying to access it via a proxy.

Have you considered hosting your email yourself at home with something like kerio mailserver for windows or Postfix on linux or something?

I had the same problem when I wanted to use IMAP and worked at a company with a strict proxy, couldnt access my webmail so I built a mail server at home which replicated my hosting server in the case of the unfortunate.

EDIT: Nice find scuzzy

So you've got a webhosting package? Just find a webmail program that you like and install it. check out RoundCube is quite a nifty AJAX based webmail client, is php/mysql based and about 10 minutes to install and configure. Just ftp up the files, import the SQL into a database and set a few permissions for logs and temp.

Ummm, what about the post above mine? You want to run it on port 80 ? of course you do ... isn't that your default port? Install roundcube into your /html directory ... i.e. /html/roundcube then access it via http://www.spastic-colon.com/roundcube.
