Hi all, i'm currently running windows 64bit (legit), and a fresh (legit) install of quake 4 but when i go to install the 1.3 patch it tells me it cant find a installation of quake 4, so i browse to my Quake 4 dir and it still tells me it cant find a proper installation of Quake 4.
Anyone else had this problem? |

I did - but this was on my mac (turned out I was attempting to drag the Quake 4 shortcut to my applications folder, not the Quake 4 directory).

bewm. I suspect it's just a weird 64 bit thing. I'm on my way home but if you're still stuck tomorrow I'll see if I can figure out how to pull apart the patch .exe manually (we get to do that fun task a lot because Activision still don't like releasing dedicated servers !@#)

Try this:
1) drop to a command prompt 2) change to the directory where your Quake 4 patch exe is 3) run the following: quake4_1_3_patch.exe /V /a If it gets past the initial checks you might get to thepoint where it lets you extract the contents out to a certain destination. I don't know if it will get that far though, depends what checks installshield is doing first. If it doesn't work, I would guess you could run that same operation on a 32bit OS, then copy the resulting files to your PC manually. |
