Hey lads, I have a Nokia 8800 (sexy phone mind you), and I'm looking at purchasing a car kit for my 350z. I was wandering what your opinions are on this product: http://www.nokia.com.au/nokia/0,,62599,00.html

One particular feature I liked is that it mutes the radio when talking. I was also wandering how this works?
Also are there are any great car kits from other brands..

Thanks

I have one of these installed in my car. I have a Nokia 6111 and it is connected via bluetooth. I think it is excellent. I love it when the radio mutes when the phone is in use. Never really had any issues with it.

Looks pretty hot man, would suit your car nicely =)

(I just got back from WA where I hired a 350Z and did the Margret River, they're a sweet ride )

Edit: From my experiences, Nokia phones work best with Nokia handsfree/bluetooth kits so I'd say definitely stick with Nokia

Sorry for the bad linking, didn't notice it hehe. Thanks for the responses, seems like the 7k-cw is a decent one. I had a further browse and stumbled across the Sony Ericsson HCB-700: http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=au&lc=en&ver=4000&template=pp4_loader&php=php1_10302&zone=pp&lm=pp4_1&pid=10302

This one has a display which shows you who is calling and you can dial a number simply by reading it out or ofcourse say the contacts name. What impressed me with this one is you can scroll through your phone book using the little hand piece and the contacts are displayed on the screen without having to touch the phone.. Sounds interesting.

Marty, i have that nokia kit installed in my car. It works okay and does it's job.

It supports voice tags if your phone does so you are able to keep your phone in your pocket to make calls if you have tags setup.

I believe there are 3 pins on my radio that this car kit is connected to. There are 2 audio in and 1 signal pin. The signal pin mutes the stereo and "PHONE" comes up across the display and the audio routes the phone audio via my stereo.

yeah I changed the bose stereo to an Eclipse AVN6000 head unit as the 03-05 models (I believe) didn't play mp3's.

The Eclipse unit plays DVD's, GPS Sat Nav, mp3's/wma's, radio etc etc.. Impressive unit. RRP: $3499

hehe, worked for the old man for bout 4 years, got paid reasonably well and saved up for the zed. Was a little short so I got a little help to pay for it. Now I'm married, studying full time and broke lol.

I spoke to some guru who supplies and installs Car Kits and mentioned the above kits, but he suggested this little puppy:

HTML: http://www.parrot.biz/usa/products/index.php?id=3200
Small Video: http://www.parrot.biz/download/video/Parrot_3200_ls_color_video.zip

Works with any phone practically and has an LCD screen with some great features.
$450 installed, wasn't bad I thought.

I bought it second hand in Feb this year from trading post for $50K. Owner paid $80K which includes on-roads, ming paint protection, titanium kick plates/door sills, personalised plates etc etc
Car is November 2003 Model and owner only did 8K on the clock, was only a weekend car and owner was overseas a lot working. Still under warranty and smells brand new hehe.
Was urgent sale, owner moving overseas.

So yeah, was a decent buy.
