But to lay it out all simple... lan costs $50 but all players get $50 in vouchers back from HN! Can you say, free LAN?!?

Free? You still have to spend $50 at Harvey Norman. Not only is it a moral loss, but you're probably getting ripped off on that $50.

It is only a free LAN if you were intending of spending at least $50 at Hardly Normals, otherwise it is just a way to get you to spend $50 that you wernt going to, hardly making it free.

It's down at the Gold Coast. Tung made a QGL news post about it the other week.

And hashy, you get a lan as well so even if you get ripped off a little by HN you're still getting killer value for the LAN.

sounds like a lame lan, you can only do your legal file sharing when the competition isn't on, which is... outside 10am -> 10pm (which means leeching for 5 hours)

Actually mongie... you can leave your PC there overnight, so you get 2hrs at the end of the night to cue everything you want up, and then leave it go happy for the whole night.

And Saint... No YOU ROCK!

I'm certainly hoping to see you down there if for nothing more than to chat over a cool brew and for you to reflect on the days that were *sigh* :)

Hey Strik3r, maybe he's got a slow NIC? we have to allow for the needs of ALL the attendees.

TimeTable should be posted soon to the site, but HERE is a temp one I've put in the forums. And as you'll see there most certainly is a DoW comp, just waiting on the prizes to be confirmed by THQ.

At this stage it is planned as a 2v2, Vanilla comp.

I don't think anything can compare the uber-ness that was the QGL of yore, and all qglers that come down should wear a qgl-tribute-bandana to pay homage to said uber-ness.

rv, HN now sell major gamer brands like Icemat, Razer and SteelPad as well as a handful of others, and they're a better sponsor than a place like EB could be.

HN are actually looking to get behind gaming in a big way over the next year, with this event being a first outing for them, so hopefully the turn out is good enough for them to continue with their plans over the next 12 months.

I'm actually happy with the low numbers though, it means better odds of me winning something myself :) especially considering they'll be giving away phat lewts almost hourly. Plus, the bar tab at the end of the event only has to be split by fewer peeps. ;)
