Whenever I launch Firefox, I get a windows error saying the program has to close. Tried re-installing it but its the same deal.

The most recent thing Ive done to it was to install the auto-update for Gmail Notifier.

Im looking for advice that isnt "Format", install ":some gay browser:" or "Get a Mac"

have you tried un-installing Gmail-notifier?


Also is there another firefox.exe process open in windows task manager which could be causing this?

What exact steps did you take to reinstall it? I assume you completely removed your profile files?

For reference, I updated to v1.5.0.6 just then and no problems.

start -> run -> %appdata%
mozilla\firefox <- just rename that firefox dir

or

firefox --profilemanager
make a new profile

otherwise it could be global plugin/extension problems, try deleting (or renaming the folders) everything in firefox folder\plugins and \extensions

Oh cool, parabol got it.

Deleted the old Program Files and the new install started working. Just trying to figure out what was cusing the problem now.

i've had the same problem the last few times i tried to use the auto-update

it's very annoying but i suspect it's due to an extension rather than firefox itself.

Weird, mine auto updated and havn't had a problem yet (on the 2 pc's that are running Firefox).
