haha yeah its crazy as here atm... police sirens going down the street like every 2-3 minutes...

Went walking past buckingham palace, they had like 60 police around the place just for the changing of the guard.. few army units around the place and a bunch of horse back cops patrolling the parks... Everyone seems to be a little bit on edge atm..

Oh and i won't really be there...

Mamdouh Habib speaking at Kelvin Grove!
15 Aug 2006, 11:00am
A Social Justice Collective Event

Public Forum on the Impacts of the 'War on Terror'

11am Tuesday 15th August

A Block Lawns at Kelvin Grove

Mamdouh Habib spent nearly three years in the hell-hole of Guantanamo Bay. He was kidnapped and then tortured in Pakistan, Egypt, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay under direction by American military officials and with the full knowledge of the Australian Government. Since his release, Habib has been subjected to ongoing state surveillance, harassment by the media, assault and burglaries of his home. These blatant violations of basic democratic rights are aimed at politically intimidating Habib and diverting attention from his three and a half year illegal imprisonment by the US military. The Australian government wants to silence Mamdouh Habib but he still continues to speak out against the racist "war on terror".

Come and hear his story!

The Students for Social Justice collective has organised a public forum on the A Block Lawns at Kelvin Grove campus starting at 11am next Tuesday the 15th of August with speakers Mamdouh Habib, Senior Human Rights lecturer at QUT Ross Daniels and Dr Nadirsyah Hosen, Professor of Law and Islamic Law and expert on the anti-terror laws.

Everyone welcome, and for more information please contact Lauren on 0413534125 or to join the Social Justice e-list go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/QUTsocial_justice/

Erik and I both have the day off so we are free to meet for coffee/lunch. We thought we would put out the invitation to others incase someone else was free.

I must say, this is a change. Normally QGL'ers are bragging about how they have no work and bludge around all day. Good to see we are all growing up finally :)

Will organise another meet soon though.

Should have gone the city IMO then people can duck out from work on their lunch hour to abuse each other outside Hungry Jacks emo-style.

Ok Ok. You're right.

Arse is a coarse word for the buttocks, in English first recorded circa 1400 (in arce-hoole), commonly used in Britain, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and many other Commonwealth countries. In the United States and parts of Canada, ass is used (both spoken and in writing) instead.
