just letting you guys know theres a nice deal for the 20" widescreen LCD

I've been wanting a new LCD for a while and I really wanted the 24" Dell but the price is a bit ridiculous I think so I just went the 20", it was listed for $699 for the past couple of weeks and I've just noticed its at $649 so I've just ordered

as with my luck though I bet once the offer ends they will release a new model or make it even cheaper though heh

oh i guess a link would be good:

I just did a search on ebay and found new ones for $100-$200 cheaper (different brands though, same stats)
Oh, and the ones on ebay i found are 8ms if you're an fps nutter, the Dell one is 16ms.

meh, you can get 22" Widescreen CMV (Chimei) monitors from MSY for about $550 and they're 5ms rather than the 16ms on these Dell's. The downside is that everybody snaps them up so fast it's difficult to get your hands on one :)

Dell warranty for piece of mind is worth the extra money in my opinion. Love my 2405 but also loved the fact that if I didnt, it gets replaced/refunded no questions asked.

Granted, things are different in the 20" market price to performance-wise. But I dont think I could go to ebay for any new hardware just to save a few bucks.

the dell's quoted 16ms is black to white its grey to grey is about 6-8ms i forget, all other manufacturers quote grey to grey, the dell is one of the best quality lcd's out there, ive done all the research :) the only other monitor that comes close is a NEC model that retails for $900

I have 2 of the 24" Dell's ordered when they had the special on them last month. Totally recommend them and as someone pointed out, the next business day warrenty (5 year) is good for peace of mind.

One thing that might give you a tiny bit of solice is this.

For gaming running super large resolutions will cripple most video cards, especially in the newewst games. LCDs must run their native resolution or they get that weird blurred s***. Even with re-sampling or whatever trickery the dell ones can do it looks s***. So on my 20" I have to run 1680x1050 in every game I play or its just not crisp at all. So if you have a 24" you have to run in an even higher resolution.

So if you want to play games and dont have a top of the line PC with the newest and best video card, you might want to down-size for that reason. :( At least that makes the pain of not having a 24" slightly easier. Plus, I find my 20" plenty big enough. Especially since its only one foot from my face.

Well Wow supports 1920x1200 widescreen and 7950's have no problems running it. Wow and topgear and some programming work are pretty much all I use it for so the native res thing is fine for me. Mmmm lots of room on desktop.

But he does bring up a good point, def something to consider when making your purchase.
