There seems to be a lot of new shows piloting or starting at the moment. Here's three i recommend checking out.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip by NBC. It's got Chandler from Friends in it, but that's where the similarities end. It's by someone involved in West Wing. Pilot episode seems good. It's a behind the scenes look at a show like Saturday Night Live which gets to re-invigorate itself after recent turmoil and make itself funny and relevant again.

The Nine by ABC. Probably the new 'prison break' though with less moody posing. In the pilot a bank robbery goes wrong, this follows the lives of the nine hostages afterwards and retells there story during the 50+ hours of the hostage taking.

Eureka by SciFi. "a secret town inhabited entirely by the best minds in the United States. After World War II ended, America realized that science and technology would play an increasing role in national security...". It's like Desperate Housewives but science fiction. With new strange things happening each week and an underlying sinister plot. Sounds homo, and with only 3 episodes down so far it may turn out to be, but it's easy watching.

Anyone else found anything else particularly worth watching?

edit: fixed eureka qgllink.

I watched Big Love when I was in the USA - HBO series with Bill Paxton about polygamy. I watched maybe the first 6 or 7 seasons while I was over there; it's really quite different but definitely worth a lookin.

Big Love was awesome. season 1 has finished. Entourage isn't a 'new' show.

Entourage is good, but IMO not the best show airing atm... if only because it only goes for 30 mins. Rescue Me definitely gets that distinction, this season has been f***ing great so far, so many quality Garrity moments.

Another new cable drama that I've been digging is Brotherhood, about the Irish mob in Rhode Island. Shaping up pretty good so far.

I also have to admit that I've been watching the Blade series, it's a bit cheese but a lot better than I expected it to be. Sticky is pretty awesome, except for the silly grumbly voice :) It's way better than the Wesley Snipes movies at any rate IMO, make of that what you will.

Oh and lastly, another half decent comedy is It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia, stupid name but has a kind of Seinfeld vibe with a younger cast.

I started watching Entourage in Season 1 because of Samaire Armstrong, but discovered that it can actually hold its own even without her. It doesn't pull punches in the way the charactors act and speak in order to give it a lower OFLC/equivelant rating, which is what I like about it.

Just watched Jericho and I agree it looks like it is going to be good.

Some ones to avoid: The Hills and Cheyenne are rubbish. Lucky Louie and Dog Bites Man were a little too weak to warrant viewing a 2nd episode just yet.

It's on HBO. Premium cable in the US is not regulated by the FCC. It's probably mandatory to fill your show with foul language just to get picked up. (See: Deadwood, etc).

deadwood is the shiz! sure it has a bit of swearing but that isn't what makes it a great show imo. so many fukn awesome characters! that's what makes it tops!

NBC's The Contender is also awesome.
Reality show following 16 boxers living and training in a house together. It's hosted by former world champ Sugar Ray Leonard, dunno where Sly Stallone disapeared to this season, but it rocks anyway.
highly excitement!

The sad thing is that they removed the silly challenges and increased the sentimental family s***e ten fold, when will they learn to cut all the crap out and just leave the boxing only!

The best show on TV is by far "Rescue Me".

"How I met your Mother" is quite funny, but only because Neil Patrick Harris is in it.

Heroes was just Xmen with retards, not that great and with a pov FX budget. If they get some more money and make things like ppl flying not look like they are just being wedgied in a rock climbing harness it might come good, but I found the pilot to be trully craptastic.

Brotherhood is pretty cool and worth checking out, but it's just an Irish spin on Sopranos really.

I'm digging Rockstar Supernova atm, but only the performances (none of that reality show crap). I guess this is cause I sing and I dig rock, so it's decent viewing for someone like me. Prolly not for non-singers... except for the whole Brooke Burke factor :)

Another for Entourage, I'm down with a bad cold atm and have lots of time to kill... I downloaded and watched series 1, 2 and all currently released season 3 eps in 2 days, thats how much I enjoyed it!

Only thing I disliked was ~25min per ep, cause I'm now out of eps and hanging for more :(

I read somewhere that Jeremy Piven was up for 2 nominations (emmy? and something else - can't find the page again) for the character Ari, not hard to see why either.

a mate of mine told me about entourage ages ago, but sort of got the story messed up

he said it was based on mark wahlbergs life (i think he produces the show)

i watched the first ep thinking it was gonna have mark wahlberg, and when it didnt, i was a little upset and lost interest

perhaps i should try it again;

He's apparently in one ep talking on a mobile in a crowd, they bump into him when they are walking down the street - I got no clue on what ep.

from imdb

Trivia: The show is loosely based on the Hollywood experiences of Mark Wahlberg, one of the executive producers. (more)
