Activision have sent through some screens and a movie of the upcoming Tony Hawk Project 8, the newest iteration of one of the most successful sporting games of all time. Check out the screenshots and movie to see what a next-gen skating game looks like.

The series is getting long in the tooth, so Neversoft are busting out some big guns for this one, including new native support for the next-gen consoles (as opposed to a simple port which is what you'd get with American Wasteland), Project 8 features a heap of new visual tricks, including an impressive animation blending system that makes the tricks look a lot more natural.

For the handholders, we've also got screenshots for the upcoming Nintendo DS game Tony Hawk Downhill Jam.

Obviously another HD clip which I downloaded and couldn't watch properly...

Still, seemed a little disappointing. I guess there's only so much you can do with boarding if you're trying to be realistic.

Billy (and those others who can't handle HD content) - on the movie link, go to the GameArena link down the bottom. There's a stream there which is cut down a bit - it should still be good quality, especially if you're on cable.

mm video looks pretty meh.
graphics should look a whole lot better given the other content coming out atm for the next gens. Also, did the framerate in that video appear not that smooth for anyone else?

Dunno If like this slo-mo focusing thats entering the later THPS games. What made THPS2 a classic was would you could do as fast possible, sure after some hours your hand would hurt but doing 4 tricks in less than .5 second was pretty damn cool

so that slow mo thing actually happens in game? i thought it was just for the movie showing how good the animation is.
