Has anyone tried this? It allows you to stream pictures and music from your pc to your 360. I downloaded the file from here and ran it but when it gets to the bit where it is authorising my xbox it says it cannot find it.

My xbox is definitely connected to the home network because xbox live is running perfectly. Also I have no active firewalls running.

Anyone know what is going wrong I really want to be able to listen to music on my xbox dammit >:(

edit: oh, and it is connected to a hub/switch/routher thingy. No idea if it is a s*** one or not.

I was under the impression you needed Windows Media Center Edition to run that stuff. There are 3rd party streaming apps you can find on xbox-scene etc, but they do transcode and there will be quality loss.

Check out the link it says it works with winxp running sp2.

Windows Media Connect lets you connect your Xbox 360 console to a PC running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) or later—it doesn't have to be a Windows Media Center-based PC.

I'm in the exact same boat Ben. 360 all connected perfectly wirelessly, no firewall running or anything, sp2 installed - Can't detect it.

So f***ing s***ty, I wanna stream mp3s onto my xbox, that's the only thing I want it for heh.

Here is the solution -

When I tried to set up Windows media connect on my xbox 360 I got "Windows media connect may not have been installed properly". Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start." I tried installing and uninstalling SP2, when tryingto install SP2 i got could not authorize xbox 360. I found out the reason for this:

I had to go to the services: start/run/ services.msc and start the following services:

SSDP recovery service
Universal plug and play
Windows Media Connect

After doing this my windows media connect finally worked, I opened windows media connect and it saw the xbox, I allowed it once i opened up windows media connect, after that I ran SP2 and it authorized my xbox 360, I was able to go to my xbox and stream my music.

hope this helps everyone

That's cool, I'm almost certain last time I checked it out they didn't support XP. Will have to check it out.
