The first weekend of September (Fri 1st - Sun 3rd) will bring the WCG National Finals to the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Center in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast. Now that's all well and good for the Pro's, but for the rest of there's going to be a 500 seat BYOC arena so we can all get in on the action.

As it's the National Finals, there will be some great matches being shown on the big screens as well as a great sponsor expo with heaps of prizes up for grabs. But on top of all that there will be full double-elim tourney's of CSS, CoD2, UT2k4 and some sort of Duels (maybe Q4). There'll also be plenty of fun matches as well as some exhibition games against the Pros.

There'll be close to $10,000 in cash and prizes just in the tourneys, with heaps more being thrown in as random and door prizes.

With sponsors like Samsung and Microsoft as well as various camera crews making the rounds it's sure to be a fantastic weekend. And lets not forget booth babes and Meter Maids (it is the GC after all)!

More information will be coming soon, but I wanted to be sure and get in and give everyone the heads up so you can start planning your time-off (luckily for Gold Coasters it's the GC Show long weekend). Details will also be forthcoming about near-by places for accomodation.

The team from ProGamer.com.au are behind the whole event, and rego info will come soon with the other bits of news (prize pools, sponsors etc...).

The GC is a heaps better venue for this sort of event IMO (although I'm probably biased seeing as I live there) and the new convention center is heaps close to numerous clubs, the casino, surf and shops (for those that bring along their significant others).
