This might be old news, but I only just heard about it:

http://www.dragonlance-movie.com/

Anyway, enough about us. What about the movie? Well, as we mentioned, an animated Dragonlance movie has been in pre-production for most of this year. The film is based on the first book in the Chronicles series, "Dragons of Autumn Twilight". The director is comics and TV animation veteran, Will Meugniot, and the screenplay has been adapted by George Strayton with plenty of involvement from Margaret and Tracy. Check out the new The Movie section for the full details as they presently stand.
I'm not sure what 'animated' means - like, Pixar Stylez or oldschool, but it could be interesting. Got some big names doing voices at least.

Kiefer Sutherland as Raistlin Majere ... what the f***?

Hopefully Ian McKellen isn't so typecast as to play Fizban :)

Damn this one came out of the blue for me. Being a HUGE Ex-AD&D'er many years back I'll be eagerly awaiting this one.

Oh and Trog, prepare yourself, this will be the first in a series, so don't go getting your panties in a twist when it finishes and there are still plot lines going!

The screenplay has been adapted by George Strayton, whose credits include "Cleopatria 2525", "Xena: Warrior Princess" and "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys".

I bet they screw it up....

This is actually based on a complete story though - it's not being made up as it goes along

I hope the marketing guys have the brains to downplay the D&D aspect, or the wider market appeal will be butchered pretty heavily.

Edit: That would suck as the material would make a pretty good animated feature.

I dont think theyd have to work the D&D aspect too hard to bring in all the old readers anyway, the internet would probably take care of that considering the demographic.
