A Northeast Portland man is suing basketball superstar Michael Jordan and Nike founder Phil Knight for a combined $832 million, claiming he's tired of being mistaken for Mike.

Allen Heckard filed the suit himself, June 29th in Washington County Circuit Court. Heckard said he’s been mistaken as Michael Jordan nearly every day over the past 15 years.

“I'm constantly being accused of looking like Michael and it makes it very uncomfortable for me,” Heckard said.

Heckard is suing Jordan for defamation and permanent injury and emotional pain and suffering. He’s also suing Knight for defamation and permanent injury for promoting Jordan and making him one of the most recognized men in the world.

“Even when I go to the gym I'm being accused of playing ball like him (Jordan)," said Heckard.

More than likely MJ and his agent will just hire some big gun lawyers, get this laughed out of court and then countersue for the million + dollars of legal fees and destroy this idiot for life and the world will be a better place for it.

I believe you are correct dice, if they were being charged of a Criminal Offence. However this is mere litigation (civil action) and no such proof of 'intent' is even remotely necessary.

Haven't you heard of 'ignorance is no excuse'? You can pretend all you like that you didn't know taking money a bank mistakenly gives you and spending it all on hookers and coke was a crime, but cocain is a class A drug and possession of it is a crime and you will be charged if caught.

I realise the article states that this guy filed the lawsuit himself, but is he an actual lawyer, or is he going to have further assistance in representation?
Who is going to take this guys case? Wouldn’t you just laugh in his face?
