Hey all, i purchased a Phillips 19" lcd the other day and i was just wondering, is there some form of tool i can use to see if there is a bright pixel or something?

Something was mentioned to me about this but for the life of my i cant remember what it was ...

Also, what is the best refresh rate to run the monitor at? Ive heard conflicting reports about it, apparently the lower the better or something? Im currently running 1280x1024 @75hz ...

run it at its native res. It'll tell you what that is on the box or in the manual. Running it at other resolutions looks like ass, not sure about refresh rates though, 60/75hz seems to make no difference to my screen that I can see, unlike a CRT.

As for dead/bright pixels. just open photoshop, make a red a green a blue a black and a white picture & view them all fullscreen I guess. Then go looking for pixels that stand out?

And yes 75 Hz is the highest I know of for LCD's, it doesn't matter as much though cause AFAIK LCDs only refresh the pixels that need to be refreshed for the changing picture and the others just stay on so there is not a constant flicker like with CRT monitors.

Just incase I need to be more clear, the refresh rate is how many times the pixels are redrawn on the screen every second. So naturally higher is better.
