Was just grabbing lunch down at Buranda. There is a guy stanidng on the edge of the top of one of the buildings threatening to jump.... eeek. Hope he doesn't do it. Cops and ambos on scene.

woops sorry - buranda shopping center. He is on the shops opposite the shopping center - above the (i think its) 7-11 on the corner facing the PA hospital. He is facing Ipswich Road.

Yes, quite true. Some research (although strongly contested by many) indicates that when suicides are reported by the media there is a dramatic increase in the number of suicides shortly thereafter. I wonder why hearing about someone else commit suicide inspires copycat suiciding. I would have thought that it would have quite the opposite effect.

However, I am quite sceptical that you could accurately ascertain from statistics whether a jump in suicide was because of the reporting of another or because of other world events that may also coincide with that time. I think suicide is probably not copied but more so inspired by, for instance, another bombing OS or something. Who knows.
