Worst case scenario you might be suckered into paying a "restocking fee" <--- god what a rip

Mostly? All 939s take DDR. The memory controller is on the CPU anyway. You'll want a Socket AM2 based system if you're going to make use of DDR2. But sounds like you've got this sorted now anyway.

will any socket 939 boards support ddr2 in the near future or is it a path the mainbaord manufacturers wont pursue?

Zylox, no. Only socket AM2 boards will go down the DDR2 path. The memory controller on Athlon64s is on the CPU, not in the north bridge, so for any to move to DDR2 would require you chaning both the motherboard and CPU, rather than just the motherboard as used to be the case.

I found a lot of places these days won't take something back unless it's faulty but it's worth checking out. Worst case scenario, you'd more than likely make your money back flogging it off on ebay, ive been selling a few hdd's on there recently that are a couple yrs old and still getting for them what you'd buy them for brand new now.

Which, depending on the circumstances, might end up benig illegal.
