hi guys.. just wondering if anyone has had this problem at all. msn is playing up big time for me at the moment. it takes like 5 minutes to start up, hogging all the cpu and making pretty much everything just hang. also whenever someone else signs in it seems that it does the same thing again for around a minute. it's frustrating as hell.. anyone got any ideas how to fix this. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it...

yep running latest version... virus checker doesn't seem to pick anything up. what's a good free spyware checker?

my msn does that startup thing, because I've blocked a certain IP address I found it constantly sending some random data to using up all my ziggy bytes, so it starts up, signs in, disconnects and signs back in again and all is then fine. I don't have the other thing though when other people sign in.

use gaim or something else?

hmm.. i don't usually like msn alternatives. does it do everything msn 7 does? (besides not working properly.. ha!) webcam? display pics? etc

That's pretty much why i don't have one.. because I don't think i've ever been dumb enough to accidentally install any spyware crap. Although.. who knows.. I could be infested somehow. .. meh. Anyone got anything helpful?

Between Adaware, Spybot S+D and Microsoft's own you'll be able to remove whatever it is. All free.
