K wicked, and I assume its been working for a while no problems ?
Also, how do you stop Netgear limiting the number of devices, connections etc that can manage the device ? |

it's been working for ages, the only downtime was when lightning blew up his router, and when he's too noob to figure out how to use it.
as for the limiting thing I have no idea. I HATE his router's management thing. I'm used to my linksys router which I find more pleasant to look at. I don't believe I have any limit on how many devices that can manage my thing, however I can tell it to tell wireless clients to sod off when it comes to accessing the setup page. edit: quick question, what exactly do you mean by a limit on how many devices can manage it? Do you mean you can only log in on one machine at a time to the management page? if so that's good. That way you won't have 2 people trying to change things at the same time. last edited by whoop at 22:52:01 05/Jun/06 |

Thanks heaps for your help whoop.
What I mean, well, heres an example... Router completely f***ed itself, so I am under the bench with my laptop using a .5m patch cable to configure.. It auto detects DHCP internet connection sweet, and internet works fine. I configure the wireless, then finally get up onto the table, removing the patch cable. Then, with this newfound freedom, I thought I would just wirelessly connect to finalise and fine tune the router settings etcs***, but it wouldnt let me access the page, because I had a new ip address... So its not that its two computers trying to change s*** at the same time, but that its buggy in detecting which computers are doing what, etc... (I am sure if I clicked logout on the router I wouldnt have had that problem, but needless to say it was still f***ing annoying) |

so can you access the router with the wireless at all? does it work the next day? or wireless access to the router just doesn't work at all? did it work before the router ate itself?
this is an option on my router, that denies access to it all together if you're a wireless client. I'd say your router probably has a similar option that somehow got enabled if it was disabled before. on a side note, I don't have to log out of my router, just close the browser window. there's no log out button at all. edit: I just asked my friends sister and she said she can get into the routers setup page using the wireless connection on a laptop so I guess it's not that. What model is your router? last edited by whoop at 20:19:30 07/Jun/06 |

nein,
Because I connected first through a cable, I got assigned say .2, then when I reconnected via wireless, I got assigned a different ip - say .3, and the stupid thing thought I was still logged in under .2 and wouldnt let me change anything until I went back to the cable .2 It's not a specific thing with this router, its just a gay thing that all netgear routers do, I've done like 100 in the last year Get your friends sister (is she hot?) to access it through wireless on the laptop, then close the window, and try it on the desktop. I'm pretty sure she'll get denied. Netgeary fun |
