Anytime anything big or popular comes out, like this, my friend rings up cinema as soon as he hears the approx release date (normally like 6 months ahead). He books an entire gold class cinema for like 9pm opening night.
It rocks, cause whenever i see a movie these days, 90% of time it's in gold class with food and booze and the whole cinema is people i know. I kinda see the fact i pay extra when i actually do see a movie at the cimema, levels out the fact i watch most new movies on the computer (no, not downloading movies off the internets, that would be wrong and i don't condone that.... i mean via a magic pixie that lives in my computer and gives me movies for free) So yeah, seeing X-Men 3 tonight in Gold Class. Can't wait. |

Normal price, around $30-35 each these days. He basically just reserves the cinema. Think he pays a deposit and then just pays whole thing himself on CC and we pay him a week or 2 before.
From what i can tell you don't even need to do it for a Gold Class movie at a certain time it's running. I think he said you could request any movie playing currently at any free gold class time and they will play it of you book whole cinema. So you could see some crappy low budget piece of s*** in Gold Class if you had like 30 people wanting to do that. |

Ok I saw it. I don't think it's possible to say how bad it was without lots of ranting and saying s*** a lot. It was totally different to the first 2. The ending(s) were dumb and impossible to say here without spoilering it as to why. But it's something you have to see anyway I guess.
There is an ending after the credits if you really want to see it. |

^ Friend said something similar, that there isnt as much 'undertone' stuff going on and that you can tell its a different director to the first two.
Also, Sunrise this morning (not that I usually put much stock in it) only gave it two and a half stars compared to four for the first films. Either way I am uber excited and going to see it tomorrow night! Yeeee! |

yeah this movie sucked
i'm almost an x-men fan boy, that is to say i'd love it even if it sucked ... but unfortunately, this one sucked to the point where i don't like it it's like the last season of the cartoons ... just out of ideas, no real plot happening, boringness and without spoiling it: certain kill-offs were a bad idea. |

I agree about the ending(s) being a bit sloppy and pretty poorly done but the feel of the movie although different to the other two because of a different director and a change of focus from individual characters to focussing on the story instead was not inately bad.
It's a decent story but perhaps more a two and a half hour movie condensed down to a one hour and fourty minutes one if you know what I mean. last edited by Xy at 15:55:14 25/May/06 |

I watched it today. I had me some free tickets so it was worth every cent I payed for..
There were some truly stupid parts in it that just didnt make sense, specially near the end. One minor and non-spoiler stupid bit was that cars where moved and abandoned at daylight and come night-time aftermath all the car lights were magically turned on. WTF did someone just decide, hmmm its not safe with all these lights off, I better turn them allll on.. Anyway, umm, go see it if you like x-men. |

i agree with tufnut. been a while since ive enjoyed a good action movie. only negative is that it was too short. it should have atleast been the same length as x2.
Im the juggernaut bitch!! rofl haha i lolled at that too. also wtf is with magneto getting his power back? whats the scene at the end of the credits? i was gonna stay through them but i was busting to take a piss so i left. edit: just found out at end of credits that xavier transferred his mind to that guy without a mind during that teaching lesson near the beginning. last edited by ravn0s at 23:45:09 25/May/06 |

yeah exactly, any tards who haven't seen it yet who bitch about spoilers can gfd
i saw it yesterday, and today i'm realising just how much it sucked. anyone who thinks it was good must have seriously low standards and no clue about how x-men should play out honestly, killing off cyclops? OH YEAH GREAT IDEA. making phoenix the dark one? killing off the professor? not having gambit and ice man ripping it up? juggs not three times the size of everyone else? not having a real plot and instead of a massive battle, just ending with a war fought on a tiny island with about 70 or so people? Dania Ramirez as Callisto? THIS GHETTO TRASH BITCH SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED NEAR X MEN. saw her in the trailer and hated her, she was even worse in the movie, terrible try-hard acting. and wtf was with that retard and the spikes? OOOOOOO GREAT POWER THERE, what was the director doing, trying to appeal to gothic retards? mfg that was sad. reminds me of a blowfish. and where were the sentinels? shocking script. tell me, what exactly was good about this film? edit: omg, they had jubilee in the film but didn't use her? also where was psylocke? last edited by dice at 08:28:45 26/May/06 |

There won't be a movie thats better than the comic books, so it doesn't really matter what story they use for them.
I saw it last night and I reckon it was alright, as long as you throw out the assumption that they are actually trying to follow the graphic novels or cartoon series. But then, the first two did too, nothing new there. And as for the people not being the right size. come on. If they had to follow the standard proportions that they draw by in the comic books, cyclops and any other person his approximate size would have been 7ft tall, and magneto and xavier would have had bulging muscles on their old ass frames. And even if they hired the biggest steroid pumper on the planet, they wouldn't have found a guy big enough to be juggernaut. |

i saw it last night and liked it. would of prefered gambit to be in there (f*** angel, seriously ftw did he do at all cept fly around?), mabye a bit more of a back story into magneto and xavier too would of been pretty cool. ive never followed xmen myself really so i never knew how he got into that wheel chair. as for cyclops, i never liked him in any of the movies so glad he got killed. gotta say mystique looked hot when she went into her human form. oh and more sentinals would of been awesome too. i do agree the whole story was a bit lacking though. still, a pretty good watch if you liked the first 2 which i really did

******** SPOILER *************
My biggest issues with the movie are. 1) WHY did wolverine have to kill Jean Grey in the end, SURLY there were plenty of those anti-mutant vials around. Not only that, the little boy could have easily walked up to Jean and halted her powers. I guess Wolverine only thinks of one thing... sticking it to people.. 2) Magneto didnt know about the plastic weapons, yet he knew enough to set up that multipal spawning guy to fool the satalite imaging and whatnot. Eh? 3) The human army had no snipers. Surly in alll those weapons and cluster needle bomb things they would have had a few snipers. Magneto was standing out in the open with no cover and no knowledge of plastic weapons.. hmmf. 4) Poor magneto had to issue the really bad 'What have I done' line. It was such a bad line and I bet the actor wished he didnt have to use it. 5) 'Don't you know who I am? I'm the Juggernaught, Bitch!' I'm amazed they put that in, I found it funny tho hehehehe My main issue was the killing off of Jean, it was soo unnessesary. |

So you'd like to see the entire xmen cast done in CG?
Well they might as well have done the entire movie in CG actually come to think of it. But then they might as well have made an animated movie instead. Harry potter and lord of the brings both had pretty massive budgets (and fairly long development time) whereas xmen3 seemed rather more restrained in that respect. |

Juggernaught was awesome! Jean was tappable! Beast was pretty cool fighting. That guy with thorns or whatever in his wrists was cool. The end fight scene got me furious... it was just not logical... the humans should of got owned straight up, why wait 10 minutes till all the mutants were dead.
If magneto really wanted to destroy that island... why not just throw the bridge at it? Why didn't that shockwave chick destroy all the guns before 100 mutants got killed. Why didn't magneto kill wolverine on the island instead of letting him kill all his mutants. It was just so tosser. Decent movie... I wanted to see mass rampage though by the mutants... xmen + humans suck, they should of lost. |

you need cyclops for the power factor in fights
as a writer myself, my main problem is that this writer doesn't know how to think 'big' enough to use characters as powerful as the x-men i'll show you how it's done in a few years when my manuscript hits the big screen |

having read so many versions of the comics and watching the cartoon as a kid i never care to much for the xmen storyline, fact is it chops and changes all over the place, aslong as teh characters are right the movie is right, and thats the thought i took into the movie, the killing off of professor x was abit dongs, but scott summers and jean grey, i couldnt of cared less, they would of been written out of the comic and cartoon if it wasnt for the fact that nobody ever died.
i thought it was a great movie and enjoy the cornyness of it all. |

nah it takes a lot of work to write a novel, like that best seller that's just come out, took her 10 years to write it. i've finished this book about 3 times now, but i'm perfecting my style and plot and everything, coz unlike these hollywood dopes, i actually put a lot of time and effort into my work. it has been 4 years now, and that's enough time to know what i'm talking about, so i'll keep doing whatever it is you said i was doing, but hey, thanks for talking to me, one such as yourself is rare to come by, i feel honoured

Did you critics of this movie watch the same movie I did? One thing I hate about reading threads about movies/tv shows etc is the total ignorance of those that bag it out. FFS, Wolverine had to kill Gene because he was the only one with the powers to do so. Gene/Phoneix was ripping everything apart atom by atom. Wolverine has metal grafted to his skeleton because of his power to regenerate. That's why he was chosen by the army for the experiment.
So, there's Gene ripping everything apart atom by atom and Wolverine struggles over to reach her. Did you all notice he was getting ripped apart yet he was able to withstand it because he regenerated? Then when he gets over to her, she says "Save Me" and Wolverine kills her. I wonder why he killed her and didn't inject her with the cure? Maybe because she asked him to do that, maybe because she knew she couldn't be cured? At any rate, she wanted to die because of what she did to Scott. Way back after she was found and Wolverine told her she killed Scott, she wanted to die yet Wolverine didn't want to kill her because her loved her. Storm said to Wolverine when they were getting on the plane, "you need to do what needs to be done" - that was to kill her because she was too powerful. The cure kid would've died before he got too close to overcome her powers. You needed to be within 1 metre of so for his powers to work on you. So that's why that happened. People it's just a movie and while it wasn't the best, if you just use your brain and think about things the movie would actually make more sense. Instead you take things on a superficial level and just bag it out because you didn't fully understand it. I watched the movie and while I thought it wasn't as good as my expectations, maybe my expectations were too high? It was still entertaining... |

I watched the movie Triamks, I understood what happened. Gene's powers wouldnt have worked on the boy no matter how far she is, her powers are useless when they get close to the boy.
As for wolverine regenerating, it makes no sense that she can compleatly obliterate a person in less then a second yet it takes agges for wolverine. More like Gean was holding Phenix back enough for wolverine to get closer. You do see at the end of the movie how Magneto manages an ever so subtle movement of the chess piece. That indicates that the serum didnt compleatly work. With the killing of Prof X's body you notice that he had a little grin before his body was disintegrated and from little snipits here and there you get the impression that Prof X knew he was going to get obliterated and was ready for it. It was not a hard movie to understand, perhaps people bag it out because it just didnt measure up to the previous two movies. last edited by Tollaz0r! at 16:54:54 26/May/06 |

just coz the humans said it was perm doesn't mean it is ... how could they have tested the effects for that long? poor science. especially when the kid's mutant power only lasted on mutants so long as they were near him, as soon as beast pulled his hand away it went back to normal, so yeah, temporary for sure
which makes the film even suckier. should have ended as a trilogy, but i guess this gives them one more chance not to suck ... which i'm sure they'll blow |

well for the whole serium thing, im thinking that perhaps its only a cure for the younger, less powerful ones. im prolly wrong but isn't magento the oldest mutant alive in the movies? would seem to me he would of had much more power over his abilities and such than any of the others. as for xavier, ive never read the comics so i dont know what happened or how he came back if he indeed isnt dead. it did seem however that he knew what was going to happen and had planned for it. i dont see him being that stupid. if they do decide to make another movie they would really need to do a few things IMO to make it a really great end. finish up the whole logan story, show much more history on xavier and magneto and how the school came to be built, add a few more mutants such as gambit (huzzah!) and mabye give the movie the whole sentinal story line. from the very few cartoons i saw of xmen in the morning before school dont mutants become hunted by them and imprisoned/killed? would be a pretty cool final story.

Kinda a shame by the sounds of it this movie sucks. I had my doubts when they left out Gambit from the trailers etc.
Although I guess I shouldnt be surprised as I thought the Xmen 2 wasnt half as good as the first xmen film. Another clear case of 'crappy sequel syndrome'. |

Not sure if this has been mentioned but a couple of irregularities with Juggernaut.
1. He isn't a mutant. From what i remember he got his powers from a gemstone he found in the desert, The Gem of Cyterak or something. This leads on that he shouldn't have been affected by the power-sapping kid. I remember him telling jubilee in a comic "I'm not a mutant, my powers are magical based" 2. He is Charles half brother but they never even touched on that, i would have thought the most powerful telepath (or 2nd after Jean) would have known this. Have to say, the x-men's 3rd outting wasn't up to the standard of the first 2. Sems to me they tried to cram to much into a short time, the whole thing seemed rushed and disjointed. 4/10 |

the movies are not a direct translation of the comics. so of course a lot of things are going to be changed or different. get over it ffs. Then it should have been called Emo-Men: The final twist. |

im prolly wrong but isn't magento the oldest mutant alive in the movies? Acording to the comics, and Wikipedia, Wolverine is well over 100 years old. And remember back to the first movie, when they find Wolverine, they mention to Prof X that Wolverine may even be older than him. |

I hope you're not serious... because if you open a movie thread without seeing the movie, you deserve it.On most forums (read: all) movies can be discussed without expressly spoiling the plot. If spoilers do come up in conversation, they're masked under spoiler tags. Either this is a sign that QGL needs spoiler tags or you f*****s need to keep the spoilers to threads with "spoiler" in the title, or at least masked well. I'm unbelievably serious. JEAN DIES. |

every movie thread i have read on here has had spoilers in it. every movie/tv episode thread that my housemate reads on other forums has spoilers. i didn't read this thread until i had seen the movie for this reason. how can anyone accurately discuss what they did and didn't like about the movie without revealing key plot points and such?
here, have one of these. |

"remember back to the first movie, when they find Wolverine, they mention to Prof X that Wolverine may even be older than him"
yes i do remember that, but if he is over 100 years old then that means that either william stryker isnt who made him, or that he is only like 10 - 20 years old since becoming a mutant. |

His mutant ability is his incredible healing ability, that is what makes him (possibly) so old. It is also the reason they used him for the adamantium experiment which gave him his claws. They are not part of his mutation.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolverine_%28comics%29
His claws are actually bone, with adamantium grafted to them aswell. He was born James Howlett, the son of wealthy Canadians John and Elizabeth Howlett in 19th century Alberta. Within the current continuity of Wolverine's background, it has been revealed that he joined Nick Fury, Captain America and the Black Widow fighting the Nazis in Madripoor during World War II and afterward he joined the Canadian Army and participated in D-Day and the liberation of the Netherlands. Quote taken from wikipedia, he's clearly got Magneto beat. |

Tanaka is right, it's said in the Marvel vs Capcom 2 fighting game that Wolv's claws would've appeared even if he didn't get adamantium grafted to his skeleton.

the problem with the x-men is a lot of it wasnt written by the same people so the stories change a bit, mostly in the details.
wolvy is old though. real old. so is mystique. |

magneto can own wolverine because of the adamantium around his skeleton ... are you guys disputing that or something? coz that seems pretty obvious ... bones coated in a metal, therefore magneto has control over the bones. unless the healing power is so strong that it can heal before magneto has a chance to pull it all apart? but considering he can move a bridge, i doubt that very much

In the comics magneto actually rips wolverines adamantium skeleton out of his body and his bones regrow.
Wolv goes even more feral then, what I want to know though is how his brain didnt get ripped out of his body inside his skull... or maybe that grew back too? Not long after that magneto loses his memory and somehow gets reverted back to being a young fella again and has a romance with rogue :) So as you can see, different writers make this series like a goddamn soap opera. |

what z0r said, I've been holding back reading this thread until I saw the movie, the same goes with the tv threads, I wait til I've seen the episode before I read the latest posts. Search deep inside yourself people and you'll find amongst the bulls*** a thing called common sense.
And the way I see it with the "cure" is that it's effects wear off over time, magneto and rogue will be back in "X-men IV: The Search For More Money" |

how did you have high expectations of this film? they revealed nothing in the previews and the first 2 scripts were thrown out in disgust. i went into the theatre with no exppectations at all and was pleasently suprised given that they skipped the whole Phoenix Saga and made up some bulls*** about being trapped under a lake to depict what happened in a whole series of the comic =/
i thought the scripting and dialog was pretty crap there was a few scenes which left me cringing and also the Wire scenes where storm is flying were a little dodgey |

nG! i have never been a reader of xman comix but i really liked the first 2 movies. the characters of the professor, magneto, mystique, wolverine & storm were all built up so well with the second movie re-inforcing the depth of character from the first movie. but this last movie they all changed!@#! :(
they definitely should have left out gay angel guy :p mutant powers: being a whiney gay bitch that can fly :P & totally agree with toll about the 'what have i done!?' line... way to make magneto into carebear hollywood!@#! :[ how come the leukemia kid didn't cancel his own mutant power? :P |

I saw this movie the other day. For those who haven't seen it yet, I would rate it as not worth your money.
At the same time though, there are worse things on at the cinemas atm...so it's not really a matter of what's "good" at the movies, but which is "best" of the available choices... |

I thought it was fantastic for a Brett Ratner movie! For the guy who did the Rush Hour movies to do this is a pretty big step. There's a s*** load of work for a director in a movie like this and he far from failed. Seriously, some of you emo children need to lighten up a bit and just enjoy the fantasy of the movie without dredging through the details. You think it makes you seem intelligent to do that, but you're missing the whole point of art - therefore you are completely unintelligent and ignorant. This isn't a novel ffs all of the details don't have to be explained down to the finest point. You all missed the biggest plothole anyway - there's no such thing as mutants! ffs.... ITS A FANTASY MOVIE. Its an exciting movie with extremely cool characters that has no basis in reality. If you can't appreciate that, then you're an extremely f***ing boring person. |

thats art eh ...
there is a lot more to art than that. there are a lot of elements to a piece of art and thats what seperates the good from the bad. yes its a fantasy movie but there are flaws upon flaws with a lot of the movie and thats what some people have been pointing out. others have been possibly nit picking the small details, but if thats ruined the movie for them thats fine. its their opinion. so. i thought it was flawed. i'm an x-men fan. i still enjoyed it, however only because of certain segments. |

pfft anarot... i'm sick of the 'its fantasy! just accept the gaping plot holes & terrible character development' attitude... MOST movies are fictional, that doesn't mean the audience should absorb any drivel because it's not based in fact.
so what if the director had previously only done s*** quality movies? who the hell goes "well that movie's story & direction sucked but because it was some_crap_director i'll give it props for trying hard"? if you cant appreciate my post, you are probably a buck toofed toowoomba hick with no fukn idea what constitutes 'art'. do you see what i'm doing here? :D |

hahaha always a laugh when those who lack intellect attempt to degrade those who have it with remarks about intelligence. no, it is YOU who is missing the point, because we don't criticize to seem intelligent, we criticize because we're passionate about the topic and were disappointed. the mere fact you didn't realise this makes you the ignorant one.
and as for the director ... it's like raven and quake 4 ... just because they suck at multiplayer games doesn't mean we should praise them for trying their best to make quake 4 good. they destroyed a game i have been playing since late 1997, that's almost 9 years now, and they're allowed to do this to it? i forked out $2,300 for a new computer just to play this game, coz i figured ... there's so much community experience, this game can't suck. little did i know the raven team were complete dumb asses with no clue at all. art this ..|., if you wanna be lazy and suck at things, go make children's tv shows, you have no place in the real world. and as i said to wog, there's a reason i've put 4 years of effort into my first novel and plan to put more ... it's because major projects such as these should not be rushed and MUST be done properly. edit: spelling oh and in short: you're the idiot, stfu. yes it was a good movie, no it wasn't good enough for an x-men film. last edited by dice at 18:49:55 02/Jun/06 |

I just watched it then and I thought it was pretty cool. The only thing that was s*** was when Magneto moved the bridge during the day and when it landed at Alcatraz it was magically night time. Apart from that it was a good movie. Although it needed more carnage.

i thought it may have been magneto getting his troops ready, and by the time the attack was ready, it was dark ... but then the government could've had enough reinforcements to take them out with ease my god what a poor script that movie had, the more i think about it the more i realise just how bad it was |

All I need to know from the peeps that have seen it is:
1. Would you accept to be financially sodmised $14.50 to watch it Birch Carrol Coyle. 2. Would you pay the not so 'tight-ar$e tuesday' price of $8.50 at BCC. 3. Would you pay $7.90 at Southbank Cinemas. 4. Not pay to see it at all and wait till comes to DVD. 5. Not pay to see at ALL. 6. Not even pirate it all and go back to stealing handbags. P.S Red Dragon was a good film. |

it's worth $14.50 to go see, there's no doubt it's a good film by comparison to what else is out there, so it's worth going to the cinemas for, but no, it's not good enough for an x-men film

SPOILERS!!!
I can't really remember what X-men 2 was about, but I can remember that I didn't really enjoy it. I thought the first one was OK. I thought 3 was f***ing awesome - it f***ing surprised the s*** outta me by killing off two of the main characters - it left me unsure of what else was going to happen and who else might live or die, compared to most movies where you know all the good guys will live. I thought the battle scene at the end was amazing. There were quite a lot of intense scenes and I really liked the development of Storm, Rogue and Wolverine. Fortunately for me I don't read the comics and didn't really have many expectations and was in one of those moods where I could deal with anything. Pretty sure that the final scene with Magneto was to show that he didn't even have the power to move a simple "pawn", which is what he was going on about a little earlier during the battle. It wasn't to show that he still had some powers and that the cure didn't work properly. I did agree with whoever said that Magneto's last line "What have I done?" was lame... |
