So far so good...I espeically like the grates, death cab, augie march and youth group on saturday. Sunday: wolfmother, yeah yeah yeahs and clap your hands say yeah. I just hope some of the bands play side shows - well mainly death cab because I'm already seeing/have seen a few of the others. I'd rather like to avoid paying the expense to go to splendour for one or two bands. If not I guess I might have to. I'd be convenient thought them being all in one place.

The first 25 as announced today.

SATURDAY JULY 22ND

Sonic Youth, Grinspoon, DJ Shadow, The Grates, Death Cab for Cutie, TV on the Radio, Augie March, The Avalanches (DJ set), Youth Group, Brittle Fex, Atmosphere and Paul Mac

SUNDAY JULY 23RD

Brian Wilson, Wolfmother, Scissor Sisters, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jose Gonzalez, Snow Patrol, You Am I, Decoder Ring, The Presets, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The Zutons, Matisyahu and Clare Bowditch & Feeding Set

Was surprised nobody had posted this before.

I was really really REALLY hoping RHCP would be there as they're playing at Fuji, but alas... second annoucement we can only hope. That would be absolutely f***ing bitchin'

I'd be down for Sonic Youth, Atmosphere, Brian Wilson and Wolfmother, unfortunately, they're on different days and I couldn't really justify the ticket price and travel for them.

I'm really hoping the chilli peppers don't end up in the lineup because I'd much rather see them at their own show.

Whats the difference, Dan?

I know everyone I've seen at a festival VS their own concerts have been the same. I'd go as far as to say the atmosphere at a festival is much better.

Yer I already have 2 cabins booked accross the road from splendour, so all I need now is my tickets. Just try and stop me!

Agreed - depending on the festival. Bands at BDO aren't as much fun cause there are really tight restrictions on playing times. Blues and Roots was awesome cause it seemed like bands could just keep playing if they wanted to.

That lineup looks pretty f***ing decent. How much are we talking here for a two day pass?

PS I'd suggest not taking drugs to this one cause didn't they have dogs last year who busted like 150 people?

no drugs at splendor?
hahahahahahaha

the coppas did use dogs to raid the clubs in byron on the friday nite last year

ive never smelt more dope at a festival ever and there were coppas galore inside, outside and all through town

For big bands there isn't a whole lot of difference between festival shows vs own shows but can include stuff like better crowd, less people, longer/better sets, better venue (maybe) and maybe some other things I'm forgetting.

Tix for Splendour are 160+bf? this year I think, it's on the website.

Hopefully they've gotten rid of that ridiculous clause where some Splendour headliners aren't allowed to play sideshows in Brisbane because it's "too close" to Byron and will take business away from the festival itself or whatever, lineup isn't too flash this year :| Could take the 160+accom+extras and maybe fly down to Sydney and catch a couple sideys

i wonder what sonic youth are like these days... i saw em live at a livid few years back n they were great! although they were on the main stage (rna) & the majority of the crowd really wasn't into it & left for other stages. this suited me fine as i got into a real sweet spot for the sound :D
i think it pissed a few ppl off too that they didn't play any of thier big hits... just sorta jammed for 45mins... 45mins of polished sonic youth distortion... yes pls! :D
i don't really like any of the other acts at this splendour so bleh.

death cab is playing at the zoo on thurs the 20th july. $45 + bf. I'm assuming that clause that prevents headliners from playing locally isn't on this year.

Splendour is the best festival all year. Its 2 days of awesomeness. Especially when you've got a mad crew.

Can't wait, we booked accom without seeing the lineup, but then again we are festival whores. I hope there is Gozlemi there for me to cain.

This year will be better as I wont have to deal with Spook having another psycotic episode and whinging about hippies. I hope we can get through a whole ounce this time. haha.

You lie, the fun was there the previous 2 years as well without you there. No more complaining about 2 days events, the lack of DJs, how your hip replacement surgery is flaring up or how the walls are caving in.

Can't wait for DJ Shadow, apparently he's wicked live. Got the Zuton's album yesterday and was impressed, they're quite a good rock outfit and will definately be seeing them.

Clare Bowdich is arse, from what I've heard on the JJJ hottest 100 and so is Jose Gonzalez, had a listen to him.

Wolfmother are going to be tops as usual.

My friend said they were playing at the zoo, so I went and checked their website. When they weren't listed I asked him what the go was and that's when we discovered that the zoo show wasn't listed anymore. So until it gets listed somewhere in print, I'm not raising my hopes that that clause isn't operating and that I'll see them anywhere other than splendour.

The line up definately lacks the mention of decent dj's. As i said last year though, the locals will rip it up in the new and improved size teepee area. Paul mac is usually pretty funky in his house kinda way.

If anyone is looking for cheap camping style accomodation dont go past Suffolk Park Caravan Park, last year their was an awesome general atmosphere with many randoms stopping by sharing a laugh and a beer, we even had a doof on the beach on the sunday night with a massive fire (Very long extension cable).. Geeze we were wasted on tuesday!

http://www.bshp.com.au/suffolk/Default.htm <-- its about a 5min drive from the town centre. Which with the busses and cabs going will cost you about $2-$5 depending on how many ppl ur with.

Last year we took up pretty much a whole corner of the camp site, which was pretty kewl. As always though, more the merrier.

finally able to get my order through @ 1:20PM. :/ Pretty nerve-racking becuase my mate was meant to have them done while I was at work but I ended up having to get them when I had finished due to the f*** up.

I got through on the phone and half way through my order got disconnected (RARG f***) but quickly got in on the website after that.

If you are still tryign to get tickets the URL you should be going for is: splendour.oztix.com.au not splendourinthegrass.com.au... the splendour site is f***ed big time and youll eventually get re-directed to oxtix where youll have to get the link to splendour so going straight through saves alot of time.

Woot! Butterfingers confirmed :D

CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY NO. BUTTERFINGERS SAY YES!

SPLENDOUR organisers have been notified that US band CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH have cancelled their Australian tour, and consequently their performance at Splendour In the Grass due to illness.

The band’s lead singer Alec Ounsworth has unfortunately lost his voice, which has led to the cancellation of all Australian touring commitments.

We can confirm that Brisbane band BUTTERFINGERS will perform in the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah spot on Sunday July 23rd. SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS organisers apologise for any disappointment caused as a result of this cancellation.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Scissor Sisters, You Am I all great. Wasn't overly impressed this year, nothing really blew my dick off.

I think it was oversold. The new area wasn't very accessible, and hence didn't really draw enough of the crowd away. Got crushed during DJ Shadow and Scissor sisters, and I was standing at the rim of the tent both times - got jack of being smashed from both sides by rude c***s, so left early. Shame, as Brian Wilson was sounding awesome when we were walking home.
